Apple’s Napoleon Expected to Earn $45 M Worldwide on its Opening Weekend

On this year’s Thanksgiving, Apple Studios is planning a major opening for its production of Ridley Scott’s Napoleon, and they are expecting a $46 million WW global start. Further analysis suggests that the split up for the Wednesday-Sunday stretch is anticipated to make $22 M 5-day domestic and $24 million overseas.

Napoleon is not the only film that’ll hog the limelight in this year’s Thanksgiving. The stage will also be shared by Disney’s animated film Wish.

Furthermore, it will be the second weekend of all the creatives that are releasing now, including juggernauts like Hunger Games: Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, Thanksgiving, Next Goal Wins, and Trolls Band Together.

Starring the brilliant Oscar winner Joaquin Phoenix, the film will get a 45-day theatrical window before being relaunched on the small screens by Apple TV+.

To better predict the opening earnings of the film, we must learn from its predecessors. Scott’s House of Gucci is the perfect case study for this situation, and it was released over the 5-day Thanksgiving holiday in 2021 when COVID-19 was at its peak.

The Lady-Gaga-Al-Pacino-driven project managed to rack up $12.8 million overseas and another $22 million in the domestic markets for a massive $34.1 million global start.

The largest overseas cash cows for the film included Scott’s homeland UK ($3.4 million opening), France ($1.9 million), and Mexico ($1 million).

Napoleon is expected to top House of Gucci and earn millions. The film will get a November 22 release in Belgium, France, and the UK, a November 24 release in Spain, and a December 1 release in China.

Domestically, previews will begin on Tuesday at 3 PM in 2700 sites and expand to 3300 on Wednesday. Napoleon will also be available in IMAX, PLFs, and in 70 mm in select locations.

Another film that acts as the perfect case study is Killers of the Flower Moon, which had a $45 million global and a $23.2 million domestic start in October when the actors’ strikes were flying high. The current total earnings of the film stands at $61.6 million and $138.8 million worldwide.

However, Killers of the Flower Moon’s 3.5-hour runtime is a significant difference between the two films. Since Napoleon clocks at just 2 hours and 38 minutes, we expect more shows and a much higher collection from Joaquin Phoenix’s next masterpiece!

Got the rare talent to binge an entire show in a single sitting just like that. Although a sucker for psychological thrillers, no bias for any genre when it comes to a good story. A living proof that Netflix and chill is not a myth!
