Manga Sales of “Apothecary Diaries” Boosted After The Release of Anime

The long-running light novel and manga franchise ‘Apothecary Diaries’ follows the story of a pharmacist and is set in a fictional historical land. 

It’s a hugely successful manga series, and it so happens that the sales of this manga have gone through the roof after the success of the anime.

‘The Apothecary Diaries’ series has added seven million manga copies to circulation since the anime premiered on October 21. 

The franchise had 24 million books in circulation at the end of September 2023, before the anime’s debut, and has since exceeded 31 million copies. The franchise added three million copies within the first month of the anime’s broadcast.

Crunchyroll is streaming ‘Apothecary Diaries’ as it airs in Japan and is also streaming an English dub. The anime’s second cours is set to debut on January 6.

This series is impressive, has a great storyline, and feels original in the long list of unoriginal isekai anime. It has an exciting cast and a quirky yet relatable heroine at the forefront. You should watch this if you are tired of boring, lackluster anime.

About The Apothecary Diaries

‘The Apothecary Diaries’ is a light novel series written by Natsu Hyuga and illustrated by Touko Shino. The series will be receiving an anime adaptation in 2023.

The story follows a young girl, Maomao, who is the daughter of an apothecary and possesses an extensive knowledge of medicine and herbs. When she is kidnapped and sold to the rear palace, she is forced to navigate life in this new, foreign environment.
