3. Episode 3 Recap
Takeda sensei encourages Aono to apply to Unimaku High School, known for its eight-time nationals winner orchestra club. Because enrolling is difficult, Takeda sensei asks Akine to help Aono with his studies. Aono discovers that Akine is extremely intelligent because of all her time studying alone. When Aono and Akine practice the violin at his house, Aono learns that Akine has a very sharp sense of hearing.
When Aono walks Akine home, she shows him her thicker fingertips, caused by playing the violin, and asks him to touch them – but shoves her hand away and teases him. Akine tells him that going to school has been fun because of playing but also hints at him as the reason.
Aono does his best, and the two get into Unimaku High School. Takeda sensei treats them to ramen to congratulate them and asks them to do their best in the high school and orchestra he was also a part of in his school days. Akine meets her friend, Haru, also going to Unimaku, who is startled to know Akine is learning to play from Aono but does not tell Akine why.
On the first day of high school, Aono is impressed by Akine’s look in the uniform but hides it. Akine introduces Haru to Aono – Aono seems to recognize her from somewhere, but Haru freezes up and runs away. Akine and Aono then attend the orchestra club performance, and Aono is stunned and impressed by their brilliance and talent.
4. About Blue Orchestra
Blue Orchestra is a manga series by Makoto Akui. It started serialization on the MangaONE and Ura Sunday platforms starting April 2017.
The manga is about Aono, a boy who is a violin prodigy but quit playing due to personal reasons. He meets Akine, a feisty girl, in school who inspires him to take up playing again. In their journey, not only will they improve their performances, but also heal their trauma together.
