The success of the A Whisker Away anime film released on June 18th inspired a manga adaptation by mangaka Kyōsuke Kuromaru which debuted on Kadokawa’s Comic Newtype on May 14th.

The manga perfectly captured the sweetness and emotions depicted in the film and showed us Miyo’s desperate love for Kento.

But as they say all good things must come to an end, the manga too saw its ending. The manga has ended with the final chapter 13 titled “Confession”.

A Whisker Away (Nakitai Watashi wa Neko o Kaburu) manga’s third and final Volume will be shipped on March 26, 2021. Volume 3 is priced at 640 yen (US$ 5.90) and will be available to buy via Amazon when released.

Volume 1 came out on 10th June 2020 while Volume 2 saw a December 10th release.

A Whisker Away focuses on the story of Miyo’s unrequited love towards her friend Kento. After all her failed attempts at capturing his heart she decided to seek magical help.

With a magical mask, Miyo was able to turn into a cat and invited herself to Kento’s house as a pet.

Now, you must be wondering why this film got a manga adaptation all of a sudden.

It could be the fact that the whimsical animation inspired the mangaka to draw the manga in his own art style or the slice of life and young love aspect of the storyline pulled at many hearts.

Whatever the reason, get ready for an emotional rollercoaster and to bid farewell to Miyo with A Whisker Away’s last volume.

About A Whisker Away

This original film revolves around Miyo “Muge” Sasaki, a bizarre second-year junior high student who is desperately in love with Kento Hinode, her classmate.

Despite her best efforts, Kento seems to take no notice of her, so she decides to kick things up a notch. Muge discovers a magic mask that allows her to transform into a cat named Tarō.

The magic lets Muge get close to Hinode, but soon, the borders between her life as a cat and as a human begin to fade.
