Zoey 101 Actor Protests Outside Nickelodeon Studio Over Child Abuse

Alexa Nikolas, who played Nicole Bristow on the Nickelodeon show Zoey 101 for three years, has joined iCarly’s Jenette McCurdy in calling out the studio for protecting child predators. Both former Nickelodeon stars have shared detailed accounts of their terrible experiences at the studio after McCurdy’s book release.

In early August, Jennette McCurdy’s memoir I’m Glad My Mom Died came out with multiple traumatic experiences in the actress/author’s life, including a detailed account of how Nickelodeon offered her $300k worth of hush money.

After her career at Nickelodeon’s show, Alexa Nikolas formed an organization Eat Predators, that represents and is a safe community for survivors of child abuse. The organization has led many protests with Nikolas’ participation, but the actress-turned-activist recently led a protest outside the Nickelodeon studio.

She shared a video on Instagram showing protestors standing with her and demanding justice for child actors like herself who were survivors of child sexual abuse. Nikolas held a sign reading, “Nickelodeon didn’t protect me,” and other signs like “How many children?”, “How many NDAs?” and “Protect children, not predators” were seen in the hands of her fellow protesters.

One sign even name-dropped former studio executives like Ezel Channel, Dan Schneider, Fred Savage, and more, who were only some predators convicted or alleged in the past years.

Nikolas’ Instagram video featured the traumatic details of incidents that still haunt the 30-year activist. She even gently urged other survivors to speak their truth and has promised her community’s solidarity in support of anyone who wants to rightfully call out these predatory studios.

Following McCurdy and Nikolas’ statements, Nickelodeon has to answer for their protection and enablement of such shameful behavior. Because these former Nickelodeon stars’ spoke up, hopefully, more victims will speak up about their experiences to hold the studio accountable.
