Last week on Young Sheldon, Missy felt overlooked and, in a rebellious moment, picked up George’s keys and drove off into the night. Despite Sheldon looking for his sister at night, the Coppers only find out well into the next day that Missy has gone missing. The CBS sneak peek reveals they only discovered her disappearance when investigating who could’ve taken their car.
CBS has released four sneak previews for the upcoming episode, returning after a two-week hiatus. The first preview shows how George and Sheldon don’t even realize Missy is not at home, and only when Mary comes in during the police investigation about the missing car do they find her gone.
George remembers how he taught her how to drive and deduces that both missing car, and missing Missy can’t be a coincidence. While the Cooper parents freak out about their daughter going on the lam, Missy handles her lonesome trip superbly and even drags Paige along, a preview showing them doing carpool karaoke.
We thought the writers were overlooking Missy, but it was all planned in the plot to show how she was forgotten in her dramatic family. Missy has pulled the escape plan several times, and she always makes it back to her family, but maybe this time, her conscious effort to make her parents notice her would affect how she’s tended to in the remaining episodes of season 6.
Between Mandy and Georgie’s baby, Mary & George’s marital problems, and Sheldon’s database, it was only a matter of time before the younger Cooper would feel the need to pull something drastic to get the attention she deserves.
But fans are more concerned about what her road trip with Paige means for the other prodigy that TBBT failed to mention. The prequel may have something dark planned for the problemed teen and may write her off from the TBBT canon, and I feel that is coming soon.
CBR has noted that the saddened teen has been going down a dark road since we last saw her, and I fear Missy’s crude driving and the need to take Paige out of the situation might result in a car crash ending with Paige’s death. This would explain how a traumatized Sheldon never mentioned her during the Big Bang Theory.
