Yoo Joonghyuk’s Mysterious Sponsor in ORV Revealed!

Fandom of Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint has often compared it with Solo Leveling. The characters are insanely strong and Yoo Joonhyuk is one such beast.

He’s the protagonist of the book Ways Of Survival and one of the strongest characters in the manhwa.

After a few chapters we get to know pretty much everything about this maniac of a protagonist except one thing – his sponsor.

Which constellation is so strong that they could grant a broken stigma like “Regression” to their Incarnation. More so, how could someone have so much plausibility that they can afford to keep their name hidden?

The Constellation sponsor of Yoo Joonghyuk is The Oldest Dream. The Oldest Dream is the single, most powerful entity in Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint. They gave Yoo Joonghyuk his [Regressor] stigma. They also have unlimited plausibility to accomplish such feats.

SPOILERS AHEAD! This page contains spoilers from Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint.

I know I have given a sponsor warning already but really, move forward at your own risk. The identity of The Oldest Dream is a spoiler for the ending of Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint.

Who is The Oldest Dream?

The true identity of The Oldest Dream is a younger Kim Dokja who lived through a harsh childhood and faced severe bullying in school. His desperate loneliness created an entire set of world lines where he, as a character, could go on an adventure with his companions.

He has long eyelashes, dark hair, and pale skin. His diminutive stature could lead one to believe he is an elementary school student, even though he was 15 when he discovered Ways of Survival.

Kim Dokja’s strong desire to not be lonely and his love for the book Ways Of Survival brought his world to reality, where he existed as both the creator of the world and a simple character.

Kim Dokja, the character, is unaware of this until the end, as The Oldest Dream makes very few appearances and is never actually seen by anyone during the manhwa.

Why did The Oldest Dream sponsor Yoo Joonghyuk?

The Oldest Dream likes Yoo Joonghyuk and considers him a hero who cannot be defeated. So he saves Joonghyuk whenever he dies or is about to die by reversing time, thus making the protagonist essentially unbeatable.

The younger version of Kim (Oldest Dream) was obsessed with the book, ‘The Ways Of Survival’ and idolized Yoo Joonghyuk as a hero who was the mightiest and unbeatable.

So when he created the world of Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint, he chose to sponsor him and gave Joonghyuk the most broken Stigma of all to keep his image, as the strongest hero intact in this world as well.

What are the Stigma (s) of Yoo Joonghyuk?

Yoo Joonghyuk has all of The Oldest Dream’s Stigmas being his sponsee; they are:

I. Regression

This Stigma allows Yoo Joonghyuk to return his consciousness to the beginning of the scenarios, restoring his original body while maintaining all the memories of his prior rounds.

His skills and other abilities are lost each time this Stigma is used. This Stigma usually becomes active automatically when he is on the verge of dying.

For this Stigma to be used, Yoo Joonghyuk and the Oldest Dream must both approve. This is the trademark ability of OVR and is the basis of the Ways of Survival narrative.

II. Group Regression

This Stigma is an evolved kind of regression, enabling Yoo Joonghyuk to bring numerous other people with him when he regresses. It can only be used once and has a very high probability cost.

III. Transmission

This Stigma allows Yoo Joonghyuk to slowly regain the skills and abilities he had in previous regressions over time, nullifying the only disadvantage of ‘losing all skills and abilities’ the regression stigma has, making it perfect for someone with the latter Stigma.

About Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint

Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint is a Korean metafictional apocalyptic fantasy webnovel penned by the author-duo Sing Shong. It was adapted into a webtoon by the same name in February 2020, one day after the end of the webnovel.

It follows the story of Kim Dokja, an ordinary salaried contractor, who one day, finds himself stuck in the world of his favorite fantasy novel. The webnovel is called Three Ways to Survive in a Ruined World, written by an anonymous author who goes by the name of tls123. Dokja was the sole reader who finished this novel to the end.

When the novel suddenly becomes reality, Dokja is the only person who has unique knowledge of this apocalyptic new world. He knows how the plot of the story ends and therefore has the best chance of survival.

But will he actually survive? Not without changing the course of the story as well as the world as he knows it.
