Yashahime: Princess Half Demon Reveals Character Designs

Inuyasha is one of the classics in the manga and anime world. Its art style brings out the nostalgic feel of the 90’s manga. The Inuyasha anime is getting a spinoff after almost 20 years, and some character sketches have just been revealed.

Yashahime: Princess Half Demon is the anime spinoff to Inuyasha. The spinoff characters are half-demon twins Towa and Setsuna, and the daughter of Kagome and Inuyasha, Moroha. The plot seems to deal with tragedy, memory loss, and separation in the background of the characters.

The original character designs for Towa, Setsuna, and Moroha have been released through the official Twitter account of Yashasha: Princess Half Demon. These character sketches have been done by Rumiko Takahashi herself.

In the original sketches released, Towa seems to have a modern tomboyish look which is understandable since she was transported to the modern world:

Moroha, who had become a demon slayer, has a more traditional warrior look as she still lived in feudal Japan.

Moroha carries a sword as she is a bounty hunter and has the characteristic ears of Inuyasha. The fact that she never lived with her parents’ hints at some kind of tragedy regarding them when she was small.

Yashahime: Princess Half Demon is directed by Teruo Sato under studio Sunrise. It is written by Katsuyuki Sumisawa (writer of Inuyasha anime) and licensed by VIZ media. Its release date is in fall 2020.

The original manga of Inuyasha is written by Rumiko Takahashi and published by Shogakukan. It was serialized in Weekly Shōnen Sunday from 1996-2008 and was compiled into 56 volumes.

The anime was produced by Studio Sunrise and directed by Masashi Ikeda and Yasunao Aoki. It has also been made into four feature films to date.
