Episode 21 of Yashahime finally revealed the truth about the rainbow pearls’ existence.
Saddened by the Dog-Demon Toga’s death, Lady Zero wished on the Shikon Jewel to get rid of her emotions. The Shikon Jewel granted her wish by turning her tears into 7 rainbow pearls infused with powers.
All of this was witnessed by Riku, who one day decided to approach Towa to gather up all the rainbow pearls to return Lady Zero’s emotions.
Riku also protected Towa from Totetsu, and took the pearl when Setsuna and Moroha appeared to warn Towa about Riku’s true motives.

A small preview of Episode 22 was shown at the end of the 21st episode.
Lady Zero, disguised as a woman named Otsuyu, approaches Miroku and undoes Miroku’s spell on Setsuna. Now with her spell undone, Setsuna’s demon powers burst out and she lashes at her sisters, trying to harm them.
Towa tries to stop her sister from harming others but Setsuna’s strength is quite unmatchable.
Fans wonder what is Lady Zero’s true motive and her association with the demon Kirinmaru.
Will Setsuna be able to control her demon powers? Episode 22 might delve into the truth about the situation.
3. Episode 21 Recap
The episode starts with Riku as we learn about him being a part of Kirinmaru’s team. Riku shares the news of Dog-Demon Toga’s death to Lady Zero who takes an emotional decision.
Lady Zero wishes upon the Shikon Jewel to get rid of her emotions and the Jewel grants it by turning her tears into 7 rainbow pearls.
Now, Riku is determined to get back Lady Zero’s emotions by gathering up all the pearls and giving them back to her.
Meanwhile, Towa learns about her mother, Rin, while staying with Kaede. Towa falls asleep listening to her stories. After waking up, Towa sees the Dream Butterfly and decides to chase it into the forest.
Totetsu somehow ends up finding Towa but is unable to harm her because of Riku’s presence.
Riku was sharing the story of the rainbow pearls and how Lady Zero needed her emotions back when Totetsu attacks the two. Riku protects Towa from Totetsu’s attacks and gets himself injured.
Towa is quite touched by Riku’s sacrifice and ends up sharing her feelings for him. When Towa’s sisters arrive to help, Towa not only gives up her silver pearl but also confesses about liking Riku.
However, Setsuna senses Kirinmaru’s scent coming from Riku and warns Towa not to get close to him. Riku is touched by Towa’s words and promises to meet her once again.
Later, Towa realizes that Riku is associated with Kirinmaru and she has made a mistake and begs him to give back the pearl to no avail.
The episode ends with Towa chasing after Riku, who is long gone by the time she remembers her mistake.
