Aoi navigates through a new school year in episode 10 of Encouragement of Climb: Next Summit, titled “New Season.”

As the school year comes to an end, Aoi worries about being separated from Hinata, who she’s grown very close with over the year; unfortunately for her, her nightmares come true. The class hikes to Tenranzan for some final quality time together.

Aoi remains anxious about her new school year; however, she does have Kasumi in the same class, who saves her from what would’ve been a very embarrassing introductory passage.

Episode 11 Speculation

Mt. Kumodori looks like a possible climb next episode as the group continues to power through their new school year. The next episode will likely show us Aoi navigating through her new class and hopefully making new friends too.

It can’t be an Encouragement of Climb episode without a hike, though, so the group will hopefully attempt another one, possibly even with Kasumi this time. Hinata manages to be a social butterfly, so there will be no issues for her for sure, but you cannot say the same for Aoi.

Recap of Episode 10:

As the end of March approaches, the group gathers at Kaede’s house for maintenance on their hiking gear. Kaede shows them the way to thoroughly clean the hiking bag using a tub of water and the power of stomping.

The realization of a new school year finally hits Aoi, as she doesn’t want to be in a different class from Hinata, especially after all the fun they had last year. The class decides to go on a hike as a final going-away plan before the end of the school year.

Aoi has been assigned the leader since she’s plenty experienced in hiking. She worries about her smile in the hiking photos, as her orders as a leader keep getting ignored. They take a quick detour for some cake.

As they reach the halfway point to Tenranzan, Aoi is relieved that some progress is finally being made. They reach the summit as Aoi desperately tries to get everyone together for a photo; with a final push from Hinata, everyone listens to her for the first time.

They ask a stranger to take their photo. Aoi takes her spot in the middle of the picture, and her smile comes genuinely. She wakes up to nightmares of being separated from Hinata.

The group goes to eat ramen on another summit, and the group makes friendly banter and fun conversation. Hinata reads Aoi like a book as she immediately guesses all her worries. On a fateful day, Hinata comes to pick her up, and they walk to school together.

They, unfortunately, have different classes. However, Kasumi is luckily in the same class as Aoi, although she doesn’t seem very interested. After Aoi’s failed attempt at the conversation, she talks to Hinata; unfortunately, she already fits in with her class.

The teacher asks to start with introductions; Aoi fumbles with her introduction as Kasumi throws her a lifesaver of a question and gives her something she can talk about, Mt Fuji. She talks about all her hiking trips and is finally able to come out of her shell.

Hinata and Aoi walk back together as they talk about their day, and they meet up with Kaede and Yuka as well. The episode ends on a positive note as the group talks about their next climb.
