E3 has been the largest video game trade event for a couple of years now. The show was canceled in 2020 due to the ongoing pandemic. It was held online in 2021 but was again called off in the following year. E3 2023 is scheduled for June 13th till June 16th.
Three of the leading names in the gaming industry, Xbox, Sony, and Nintendo, will not be a part of E3 2023.
These companies will all be absent from the showcase at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
After E3 was abruptly canceled in 2022, the announcement of the Summer Game Fest in June made up for any disappointments. ESA, the organization behind E3, claimed that they plan to bring “community, media, industry back together in an all-new format.”
The event planners, ReedPop, for E3 were coy about which video game publishers and companies would be invited to the show. Even now, there’s a lot of missing bridges in the event report and the show’s final format was also briefly explained. Official contracts for those who will be present at E3 this year have just started going out.
“This process has taken time due to the tremendous amount of stakeholders offering input, though we appreciate that we could have been more transparent to questions for which we were still finalizing the answers. We continue to work tirelessly to create a show that brings together the global gaming industry. We believe we’ve created a new format for the event that serves the needs of both the industry and its fans, and are committed to building and growing it in the coming years.”ReedPop
ReedPop is wary of how big of an event E3 is, and the significance it holds in the video games industry. To plan something of this scale, the company has worked diligently to establish a smooth affair that warrants all goals and needs.
Although E3 is a big platform, Xbox, Sony, and Nintendo already have a well-established presence in the field. So, it is safe to say that they won’t be missing out on much by not being a part.
