WWE Money in the Bank 2023: A Night of Action, Drama and Surprises

WWE Money in the Bank 2023 was a night full of action, drama and surprises, as the WWE superstars competed for the coveted briefcases that could change their careers.

The event featured eight exciting matches, including two ladder matches, two world title matches, and a women’s tag team match. The show also had some unexpected twists and turns, as some familiar faces returned to shock the WWE Universe.

Here are the matches, results and surprises from WWE Money in the Bank 2023.

1. Damian Priest’s Victory Over Paul, Knight & Others

Damian Priest won the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match, beating six other superstars in a wild and exciting bout. Priest overcame Shinsuke Nakamura, Ricochet, Logan Paul, Butch, Santos Escobar and LA Knight, who all gave their best and used ladders, chairs and tables as weapons.

Paul was the surprise entrant, who got a mixed reaction from the fans and almost won the match. But Priest pushed him off the ladder and through a table, and then grabbed the briefcase. Priest also met Edge backstage, who gave him some advice. Priest now has a contract for a world title match at any time in the next year.

2. Liv Morgan Defeats Ronda Rousey, Raquel Rodriquez Beats Baszler

Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez beat Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler to win the Women’s Tag Team Championship. Morgan and Rodriguez, who teamed up after being drafted together, fought hard and showed great teamwork, while Rousey and Baszler used their MMA skills and experience.

Morgan and Rodriguez escaped from some submissions and hit some big moves, and Rodriguez made Baszler tap out to a crossface. The winners finally hugged and held up the titles, and got some respect from Rousey and Baszler.

3. Gunther is the New Intercontinental Champion

Gunther became the new WWE Intercontinental Champion, as he defeated Matt Riddle in a hard-hitting and competitive match. Gunther used his power and technical skills, while Riddle used his speed and striking skills.

Gunther survived some kicks and submissions from Riddle, and hit him with a suplex and a powerbomb. Gunther then pinned Riddle with his feet on the ropes, using some leverage to steal the win.

4. Cody Rhodes Beats Dominik Mysterio

Cody Rhodes scored a decisive victory over Dominik Mysterio, the son of WWE legend Rey Mysterio. Rhodes showed his experience and charisma, while Mysterio showed his potential and courage.

Rhodes dominated most of the match, as he hit Mysterio with some signature moves, such as the Disaster Kick, the Cross Rhodes and the Figure Four Leglock.

Mysterio tried to fight back, as he used his speed and agility to hit some counters and high-flying moves. However, Rhodes proved to be too much for him, as he caught him in mid-air and hit him with a Final Cut for the pin.

5. IYO Sky Wins the Women’s MITB Ladder Match

IYO Sky achieved her dream, as she won the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match, defeating five other superstars in a thrilling and historic bout.

Sky overcame Bayley, Becky Lynch, Trish Stratus, Zoey Stark and Zelina Vega, who all put on a phenomenal performance and used ladders, chairs and tables as weapons. She showed her determination, as she climbed the ladder and unhooked the briefcase, while fighting off her opponents. Sky now has a contract for a women’s world title match at any time in the next year.

6. Seth Rollins Retains WWE World Heavyweight Championship

Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins retained the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, as he defeated Finn Balor in a spectacular and intense match.

Rollins and Balor showed their skill and passion, as they exchanged some amazing moves and near-falls. Rollins used his power and cunning, while Balor used his speed and resilience.

Rollins hit Balor with some of his signature moves, such as the Slingblade, the Buckle Bomb and the Curb Stomp. Balor hit Rollins with some of his signature moves, such as the Slingblade, the 1916 and the Coup de Grace. However, Rollins kicked out of Balor’s finisher, and then hit him with another Curb Stomp for the win.

7. The Usos Defeats Roman Reigns & Solo Sikoa in a Huge Upset

The Usos pulled off a shocking upset, as they defeated Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa, the cousins and allies of Reigns. The Usos showed their brotherhood and teamwork, while Reigns and Sikoa showed their dominance and arrogance.

The Usos used their speed and double-team moves, while Reigns and Sikoa used their power and brutality. The Usos survived some spears and chokeslams from Reigns and Sikoa, and hit them with some superkicks and splashes. The Usos then pinned Sikoa with a roll-up, using the ropes for leverage, to win the match.
