Daisuke Ashihara’s World Trigger is one of the most impactful action series to come out of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump. But shortly after the anime’s second season ended, the series suffered a long gap of inactivity.
Fans have been long waiting for the series to make a comeback, and thankfully, Toei Animation has been teasing a “new season” of World Trigger.
However, they are not directly calling it a season 3 yet, so you can expect a fancy spinoff as well. Crunchyroll, on the other hand, is planning to refresh upon the series.
Crunchyroll announced on Tuesday that it will begin streaming the English dub of the World Trigger anime on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. EST in the United States and Canada.
All 48 episodes are being made available on the platform. Even Toei Animation released the dub for the first three episodes at Anime Expo in July 2015, but as you can tell, it’s been a while (quite a while in fact).
It was revealed earlier that the upcoming new season will air via TV Asahi. With that, Mangaka Daisuke Ashihara also stated that he’s very grateful to end 2019 on a high note.
He also thanked fans and promised to keep up his excellent work pace.
Toei Animation officially describes the story as:
World Trigger begins when a mysterious gate to another world is opened in Mikado City, letting invaders from another dimension called “Neighbors” overrun the area.
A new defense league called “Border” is created to protect the City from these apparitions. The fighters are equipped with a fantastic weapon called “Trigger,” allowing them to put on armor and use special powers.
The story takes place four years after those events, when a young student, Yuma Kuga, arrives at Mikado City. He witnesses, along with another student Osamu Mikuno, a portal opening.
To fight the creature, Osamu finds himself forced to reveal his affiliation to the Border and pulls his Trigger out. When Osamu is injured, Yuma joins the fight and saves him. Yuma turns out to be very powerful!
Who is really Yuma? Why did he come to Mikado City?
About World Trigger:
World Trigger, also known in short form as WorTri, is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Daisuke Ashihara. It was initially serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump from February 2013 to November 2018 and later transferred in December 2018 to Jump Square.
A mysterious white-haired kid named Yūma Kuga gets transferred to the local school. Turns out, Kuga is actually a humanoid. In school, he becomes friends with another student, Osamu Mikumo, who is, in fact, an undercover C-class Border trainee. Mikumo becomes the perfect guide for Kuga to save him from being discovered by Border.
