New Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey Poster Reimagines Our Childhood

A new poster for Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey has been released. The poster has an intriguing tagline, confirming that this “ain’t a bedtime story”.

Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey is set after Christopher Robin leaves for college, leaving his beloved bear and piglet alone. After Robin’s departure, Pooh and Piglet begin experiencing issues of abandonment and regress back to their feral roots.

The two now want blood and gore, instead of honey and adventures. The upcoming horror-comedy is all set to be an eccentric take on the classic children’s tale. Craig David Dowsett plays Winnie the Pooh, while Chris Cordell plays Piglet. The film is written and directed by debut director Rhys Waterfield.

Dread Central has shared an exclusive new poster for the upcoming horror-comedy. The poster features our favorite yellow bear, Pooh holding a sledgehammer dripping with blood, instead of his honeypots.

The poster also features Pooh’s companion and best friend, Piglet, looking down at his latest victim on a full moon night with a butcher’s knife in his hand. So, the poster makes it clear that the film is not going to be a typical children’s film.

Earlier, in an interview with Variety, director Rhys Waterfield explained that Blood and Honey will be much more than just a slasher film. The film will explore darker themes of abandonment.

Waterfield also gave an overview of the plot of the movie. Check out his statement below.

“Christopher Robin is pulled away from them, and he’s not [given] them food, it’s made Pooh and Piglet’s life quite difficult… Because they’ve had to fend for themselves so much, they’ve essentially become feral. So they’ve gone back to their animal roots. They’re no longer tame: they’re like a vicious bear and pig who want to go around and try and find prey.”

Waterfield reportedly shot with his crew for 10 days in a location in England, close to Ashdown Forest, the place that inspired English author A. A. Milne’s collection of short stories featuring Winnie the Pooh.

Though the film may not be everyone’s cup of tea, it will definitely be an intriguing and unique attempt to look forward to. No release date has been announced for Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey yet.
