Will There Be A Space Force Season 3?

Space Force season 2 just dropped on Netflix and the last episode have us all craving for more, just like the ending of season 1 all over again.

If you’re following the workplace satire, you must be remembering the ending of season 1, which also ended on a cliff-hanger, leaving enough room for a potential season 2.

Similarly, season 2 ends on a massive cliff-hanger, leaving us to hope for another season. I am pretty sure I am not the only one who is craving more of Steve Carell as General Naird in an The Office-esque setting.

But, do not get too excited as of now.

As of writing this article, there has been no official confirmation of a season 3 of Space Force. Netflix usually takes a month or so to renew a series for another season, so there’s still hope.

Also, the ending of season 2 keeps doors open for a potential season 3.

How Did Space Force Season 2 End?

At the end of season 2, General Naird and his team discovered that a huge asteroid was heading towards Earth.

Naturally, the team is expected to do something. But unfortunately, all they could do at that point was sing Kokomo by The Beach Boys to stay sane.

So, season 3 should ideally begin at this stage and explore how the team deals with this upcoming crisis before it is too late.

Despite Space Force being labelled as a ‘comedy series’ generally, season 2 dealt more with some serious issues and also did fairly well with the critics, compared to its first season which did not do favorably in the sphere of critical opinion.

In this season, we see Naird dealing with the massive budget cuts and the change in administration. We also see how his team deals with such obstacles and there’s more focus in inter-team relationships.

What We Know So Far About Space Force Season 3

As I mentioned above, there is no news yet about Space Force season 3 yet and Netflix has not yet confirmed whether it will be renewed for another season or not.

While the show has gained decent popularity among viewers, renewal of a series by a streaming platform is influenced by a multitude of factors among which viewership and success is one of primary importance.

I think it is too early for us to decide whether season 2 of Space Force has been a success or not. Generally, Netflix takes a month at minimum to confirm whether a show is returning with another season.

But do not lose hope. If showrunner Greg Daniels ended the season with such a massive cliff-hanger, I am sure he has something more in mind.

Also, Space Force is one of the better shows on Netflix right now, so there is no reason why it won’t be renewed for another season.

Come on, the show literally gave us Michael Scott and Phoebe Buffay as a couple. What else could we ask for?

What To Expect From Space Force Season 3?

In one word, Steve Carell! Please pardon my excitement, but for me, if there’s any reason why I will continue to binge on this show, it is Steve Carell. General Naird gives major Michael Scott vibes and Carell never fails to impress with his performance.

General Naird

Jokes apart, we can expect to see how Naird’s team deals with the upcoming crisis on Earth. Since season 2 ended with that cliff-hanger, season 3 would naturally begin at that point.

There will probably be more focus on interpersonal relationships and we’d see more character development.

There’s also the issue of change in administration and budget constraints, so Naird’s team will have to continue to deal with that. We can also expect to see Angela and Chan’s relationship and how it develops.

So yes, there’s a lot of content that Greg Daniels can work on when it comes to season 3. Now, we just need Netflix to give their green signal.
