Will Tengen Uzui die in Demon Slayer Entertainment Arc?

Tengen Uzui, the Sound Hashira plays an important role in the Entertainment District arc just like how Rengoku did in the Mugen Train arc.

Rengoku fought very bravely against the Upper Moon 3 but in the end, he had to sacrifice himself to protect many lives in the Mugen Train arc.

With the current ongoing Entertainment District arc, anime fans are wondering if Tengen Uzui will die similarly. If you’re an anime-only fan, proceed at your own risk since there will lot of spoilers.

Tengen Uzui does not die in the Entertainment District arc but dies a natural death at the end of the Demon Slayer storyline. In the future, he is reincarnated as Tenma Uzui, a twenty-year-old athlete.

How did Tengen Uzui Survive in the Entertainment District Arc?

In the Entertainment District arc, Tengen fights the Upper Moon 6 (Daki and Gyutaro). Though he easily decapitate Daki that wasn’t the end. Daki’s brother, Gyutaro the actual Upper Moon 6 comes out of Daki’s body.

When Gyutaro joined the fight he tries to kill everyone with his pair of poisonous sickles, gaining him the upper hand.

As the fight progresses Tengen gets hit repeatedly by the poisonous sickles. Though he has considerable immunity from poison, he nears his limit. By the time the battle ends, Tengen has already lost an eye and an arm, and his body is filled with poison.

Gyutaro’s poison has spread throughout Tengen’s body resulting in his inability to speak. He lay down lifelessly from the poison.

If not for Nezuko’s interference, Tengen might have died due to poison. Nezuko uses her Blood Demon Art to burn out the poison in Tengen’s body and save his life.

What does Tengen Uzui do after his Retirement?

Despite retiring from being a Hashira, Tengen is never far from the demon slayers. Even without an eye and an arm doesn’t stop him from becoming a teacher.

Tengen after retiring, is responsible for the first-level training, which is basic endurance training. He oversees the training of the demon slayers along with his wives.

Tengen is very demanding of others, treating the demon slayers very harshly during their training. He insults them for having no substance when they couldn’t survive his stamina training.

With his flamboyant personality, he makes a living hell for the trainees. This just reminds me of all the intense training Tanjiro had to go through to become a demon slayer.

Who will Replace Tengen Uzui as the Hashira?

Tengen knows that if he retires, someone has to sooner or later fill in his role as a Hashira. With the younger demon slayers having huge potential, it was only right for him to retire.

He has full faith in Tanjiro, Inosuke, and Zenitsu and hands over his legacy to them. Inosuke has the same energy as Tengen and uses two Nichirin swords just like him. Inosuke also has unique breathing just like Tengen’s breathing.

All this makes Inosuke the most suitable successor to replace the Sound Hashira.

Tengen and the next generation of demon slayers won’t be surprised to see Inosuke grow and surpass Tengen. Tengen also reassures Obanai when he retires by saying that the swordsman he “hates so much” has become strong enough to take his place.
