Will Armond die of an overdose in The White Lotus?

Right from episode 1, I, or rather we’ve all been waiting for things to go down south for the so-called VIP guests. With episode 4, that’s finally happening! It’s quite a beginning, and the character who’s most affected is none other than the hotel manager, Armond.

High on pills and cocaine, Armond goes back to his addiction when his most ‘valued’ guest, Shane, is being a pain in his ass and not the kind Armond would prefer. In fact, Shane now is hell-bent, is on getting Armond fired, and has found a sure-shot way to do so. So will Armond consume more drugs until he overdoses and dies?

Will Armond Die Of Overdose?

Though the show hasn’t revealed anything yet, there’s a theory that Armond will die from an accident while he fights with Shane under the influence of drugs.

Towards the end of episode 4, Armond is caught with his pants down (quite literally!) by Shane and Belinda. They catch him in his cabin while he’s getting high and laid with another young hotel staff, Dylan.

Shane immediately laughs out loud and walks away, intending to “take Armond down!” On Armond’s end, he knows there’s no way to escape from what just happened and starts crawling back, presumably to get his clothes.

The fan theory stems from this incident. Right from the beginning, Armond and Shane got off on the wrong foot, but this is as bad as it gets, or is it?

According to the fan theory Armond like he usually does, will once again turn to drugs. This time the dose might be higher than usual, considering something terrible has happened.

He’ll approach Shane, maybe try to sort things out at first, and maybe even try to convince Shane not to get him fired. But that wouldn’t work out since Shane is a spoilt brat who’s out to get Armond because he gave him a different room.

So things will heat up. The two might engage in a fight, and since Armond will be heavily drugged, he might get into an accident that will kill him.

Now, though this theory sounds great and perhaps even foolproof, there are a couple of things that bother me.

Alternate Theory

First, at the beginning of episode 1, we see a body being boarded on a flight in which Shane is leaving from Hawaii. If Armond has been working in The White Lotus, there’s a chance he stays in the same city as the hotel. Moreover, at no point did the show mention where Armond was based out of.

The second thing caught my eye while I was re-playing the trailer at 0.25x speed. Two visuals seemed related to who might get killed. One shows a tall white man with dark hair running in the corridor of the hotel. The second shows a tall man wearing the same clothes as the other. He is wearing a pair of disposable gloves, a hat, and a bandana covering his face up to his eyes. While he’s standing there, another man in a dark tee shirt tackles him from the side.

My theory is that this man in the cap could be Shane and the man who tackles him looked a bit like Mark to me. Now, I don’t know how the paths of these two men cross, but it looks like one of Mark’s family members is at risk if that man was Mark. I know these are wild assumptions, but I guess we’ll soon find out how well they hold in the next couple of episodes.

Armond dying is the worst-case scenario for the character. What if we dial it back to just a bad scenario? Like him getting fired and losing his job?

I think Armond will surely lose his job with everything that’s happened. He might not go down without a fight, though. Either he will try to convince Shane and then lose his jobs after failed efforts, or he might lose his job and then will try to ruin Shane’s honeymoon to seek vengeance.
