‘Wicked’ Set Photos Reveal Bridgerton Star’s First Look with Ariana Grande

We finally have a sneak peek at Jonathan Bailey’s first look in the upcoming Wicked movie.

Based on Gregory Maguire’s twisted take on The Wizard of Oz, the musical has been wowing audiences on Broadway since 2003. Now, it’s time to bring the magic to the big screen. Jon M. Chu is directing not one but two Wicked movies, starring Cynthia Erivo as the green-skinned Elphaba and Ariana Grande as the bubbly Glinda.

We’ve already seen some snaps of the leading ladies in their fabulous outfits, but now we can also catch a glimpse of Bailey as Fiyero, the handsome prince who gets caught in a love triangle with the witches.

The new set photos from Splash News (via Wicked Movie Updates) show us the first glimpse of Bridgerton hottie Bailey as Fiyero, the Prince Charming of the film.

He’s standing next to Grande, the good witch with a big heart and a bigger voice.

Judging by Glinda’s magic wand in the photos and the outfits, these scenes seem to happen after Glinda and Fiyero graduate from Shiz University, when Glinda is a famous good witch, and Fiyero is a dashing guard captain.

 Wicked Broadway Musical

We get more hyped and hopeful whenever we see a new Wicked set photo, especially with the fantastic costumes and sets.

Some Broadway movie adaptations can be a letdown, but we have a good feeling about Wicked. It starts with the director, who is none other than Jon M. Chu, the genius behind the movie version of another fabulous musical, In the Heights. It was a hit with critics and fans alike, with a 94 percent fresh rating from both groups on Rotten Tomatoes. We bet Chu will work his magic again with Wicked.

Next, we have the stellar cast, who are juggernauts in their own way. Grande is a pop superstar, while Erivo and Bailey have a striking screen presence

However, they’re not just pretty faces but also musical pros. These actors have all performed on Broadway or the West End, showing they have the chops to play Elphaba, Glinda, and Fiyero.

The choice to make Wicked into two movies is also a smart move. A single installment might have had to skip some of the musical’s best bits to fit everything into a decent runtime.

Two movies give more space, letting all the musical’s best songs and scenes shine while also making room for new songs and even stuff from the book that didn’t make it into the original musical.

All these signs suggest that the Wicked movies will be wicked awesome!
