Levi is one of the few characters that enjoyed massive support almost to the formation of what can be termed as his own fandom.
His support arises from his awe-inspiring capabilities as a soldier that give him the deserved title of ‘humanity’s strongest soldier.’
But why is Levi so strong? His abilities evoke suspicion of him being a Titan Shifter. Let’s explore if that’s true!
Levi’s awakened power and his training from Kenny Ackerman are the reasons for his unbelievably strong skills. He is not a Titan Shifter, yet he can manifest the Power of the Titans as a human due to his awakened power.
Why Is Levi So Strong?
Levi’s extraordinary skills are definitely beyond the capacity of an average human. This thought was reaffirmed in the minds of every fan during his sensational fight against the Beast Titan during the Return to Shiganshina arc.
Levi’s speed is usually described as God-like speed that manages to stump even the most intimidating opponents such as The Beast Titan and the Female Titan.
In The Uprising Arc, Levi’s reunion with Kenny reveals the mysterious nature of the Ackerman Clan. Kenny recites the knowledge he acquires from his grandfather regarding the persecution of the Ackerman Clan.
It is revealed that they were immune to the memory modification abilities of the Founding Titan. This evoked intrigue regarding the true powers of the Ackerman Clan.
I. Levi’s Awakened Power
The Ackermans possess an awakened power, which is described by Levi as “knowing what exactly needs to be done.” It unlocks physical capabilities for the Ackerman Clan — far beyond that of an average human’s.
Soon, in Chapter 112, Eren reveals further information regarding the Ackerman Clan that he gets from Zeke. Eren attributes this power to the mass experimenting on the Subjects of Ymir by the Eldian Empire.
Through this, Ackermans can manifest the Power of the Titans without becoming a Titan Shifter. This power allows them to harness the battle experience of every single Ackerman via Paths, which explains their God-like powers.
These powers are activated upon finding a ‘host’ to serve as the Ackermans were genetically engineered to serve the king essentially.
The dormant power awakens then. Levi confirms that he has experienced such a moment.
II. Training With Kenny
Levi was an exceptionally good fighter even before his Survey Corps days. His fighting skills owed to Kenny’s training significantly helped his perseverance in the Underground City and establish himself as a notorious thug.
Kenny’s incredible skills are feared amongst people and soldiers alike due to his vicious killing spree under the name of ‘Kenny the Ripper.’
He taught Levi knife skills and violent survivalist behavior at a very young age. He is even taught to hone his own inner power to his advantage. Kenny’s training can be traced to his unique style of handling swords, such as the reverse-grip aspect of it, which allows him to incorporate rotating attacks that enhance his agility.
Levi’s massive potential and Kenny’s hard training are two huge factors for his excellent skills.
Is Levi A Titan Shifter?
Levi Ackerman is not a Titan Shifter. As an Ackerman, he can manifest the Power of the Titans as a human and without turning into any of the nine titans.
Ackermans are a by-product of science that were created to protect the Eldian King. They were genetically engineered through experimentation on the Subjects of Ymir.
This is the legacy of the awakened power that remains dormant within every Ackerman.
Who Is Humanity’s Strongest Soldier?
Levi Ackerman is widely referred to as ‘humanity’s strongest soldier.’ This is due to Levi Ackerman’s God-like fighting techniques and his perplexing powers.
Levi is in charge of the Special Operations Squad, which is the most elite squad within the Survey Corps. He is the only soldier capable of incapacitating the formidable Beast Titan.
How Many Kills Does Levi Have?
Levi currently has at least 89 solo kills, which is highly impressive given the fact there is a 50 kill difference between him and Oluo Buzado — who had the second-highest kills (39).
89 kills is an estimation. Most likely, the true number is beyond that. His assisted kills are unknown.
