‘Superman: Legacy’ Screen Tests Reveal Top Contenders for Clark & Lois

According to sources, the DC Universe is close to revealing the new Superman, as James Gunn and DC Studios are conducting screen tests with the leading candidates for Superman: Legacy.

This film, which is in pre-production, will explore the origins of the Man of Steel as a young superhero. It will also be part of a new shared universe across TV and film, led by Gunn and Peter Safran from DC Studios. The studio has been meeting with actors for the roles of Superman and Lois Lane in preparation for the filming next year.

They were paired with Emma Mackey, Phoebe Dynevor, and Rachel Brosnahan respectively as Lois Lane. Mackey also tested with the other actors as Lois for the Superman: Legacy auditions. Additionally, Alexander and Bill Skarsgård have been named as potential candidates for Lex Luthor, the iconic DC villain. The trade suggests that a decision could be made this week for the roles of Superman and Lois.

David Corenswet has been a popular fan choice for Superman since Superman: Legacy was officially announced. He has been featured in numerous fan-made trailers and images as the Man of Tomorrow.

His progress in the audition process suggests that DC Studios may be listening to what audiences want to see in their new Superman reboot. Hoult is another intriguing contender, considering he was almost cast as The Batman before Robert Pattinson got the role.

The bigger question with Hoult is whether he is being considered for Superman or Lex Luthor, or both. The casting details have indicated that Lex Luthor will be a very different version of the character. The inclusion of the Skarsgårds in the shortlist may imply that Hoult is a strong candidate for the Man of Steel.

With Lois, it is uncertain if Mackey is the final choice, since she is the only one who has moved to the second round of screen tests. If the reports are accurate, it will not be long before Superman: Legacy announces their new lead pair for Gunn’s DC Universe.

One may wonder if the possible SAG-AFTRA strike is influencing Superman: Legacy’s efforts to secure their stars for Clark Kent and Lois Lane.

For now, it remains to be seen who will join Superman: Legacy for Lois and Clark, as well as other roles that are being cast.
