Oshi no Ko has vibrant characters and a wonderful and somewhat heartwrenching storyline, but what about the romance? What is happening in that department?
When it comes to who will have a relationship- the answer is very evident if you look at the manga. It is our very own Aqua Hoshino. So, let us see who Aqua will end up with.
1. Akane is Head over Heels for Aqua
Akane Kurokawa has been obsessed with Aqua since the LoveNow reality series arc. Aqua saved Akane’s life, and they started dating for a while as pretend on the show and off of it. The fans were happy about that. Blue and the Blonde, they said.
But even though Aqua pretends to be a no feelings, only revenge is my focus kind of guy, he cannot help but feel he cannot be with Akane and bring her into his complex plots for vengeance.
Since Aqua is focused on a purpose that is more important to him than anything else, except maybe his sister, Ruby, Aqua is a nice guy inside, and he may end up with Akane, but it doesn’t seem likely enough, as Kana is a strong competitor.
It is also a fact that Akane had an unhealthy (severe) obsession with Aqua until recently. None of the jealous, obsessed types get the guy in the end. That is anime relationships 101. So, unfortunately for Akane, the pretend relationship is all she might have.
2. Kana is the Star that Can Bring Aqua Back
Good old Kana. Kana has been on a redemption arc since the series started. As she cast away that foul-mouthed and arrogant self, she only lacked confidence and companionship.
Meeting Aqua and later Ruby and joining B-Komachi made Kana shine a lot. We see her being central and key to the story in ways more than one.
Aqua and Kana have had their moments. Aqua is not involved with Kana because he doesn’t believe himself worthy of her. As someone who failed to protect and uphold his promises to Ai, he doesn’t think he is good enough to care for another person.
Kana is the popular choice for manga fans, and it does seem that the author intends to take the story in that direction. It is true that Oshi no Ko is not a romance or a harem tale. But these character interactions are vital to the story.
Kana Arima is the Stella Maris of Aqua. She is the guiding star that will set him back on the right path. All he needs to do is gaze at her. But it seems that it will be difficult to focus on romance when there is so much going on.
The fans can likely see a happily ever after for Kana and Aqua. Besides, she is completely lovable and adorable. So, no matter who you are rooting for, we must see where the story takes us. Kana is just the most likely pick.
Many have said that it will be Ruby as a joke or that it won’t happen seriously. The two siblings have talked openly about their past lives and are closer than ever. Aqua has only familial love towards Ruby and nothing else. So, there won’t be anything funny in that department.
3. About Oshi no Ko
Oshi no Ko is a supernatural crime-solving manga series written by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari. It has been serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump since April 2020 and received an anime adaptation in 2023.
The story follows a doctor, Goro, reincarnated as his favorite idol Ai’s kid. Ai names him Aquamarine and his twin sister, a reincarnation of a patient at the hospital, Ruby. Ai is later killed by a stalker who was also responsible for Goro’s death. As Aquamarine swears revenge on the stalker for his mother’s demise, Ruby follows the same path as her mother to become an idol.
