SPOILERS AHEAD! This page contains spoilers from The Flash.

One of this year’s most anticipated DC movies is The Flash, where Barry Allen (Ezra Miller) goes back in time to prevent the murder of his mother, Nora Allen (Maribel Verdú).

However, his noble act unleashes a terrible threat to his world: General Zod (Michael Shannon) and his army of Kryptonians. Now Barry must face the consequences of his actions and stop Zod from destroying everything he loves.

The Flash is not just a time travel adventure but also a multiverse extravaganza featuring two different Barry Allens and Michael Keaton’s Batman.

In spite of the fancy plots, the heart of the story is Barry’s relationship with his mother, who died when he was a young boy. Here is what we learn about the tragic fate of Nora Allen in The Flash.

1. What The Flash Movie Revealed about Nora Allen’s Fate

Barry Allen’s mother, Nora, was brutally killed when he was a boy, and The Flash reveals the details of her death through a series of flashbacks.

Nora was alone in the kitchen when someone stabbed her with a knife, while Barry was in his room and his father Henry was out buying tomatoes.

Henry returned to find his wife bleeding and told Barry to call for help, but he was later accused of a crime he didn’t commit.

The Flash also shows Barry returning to his childhood home as an adult and reliving the horror of that night as he sees his younger self running out of the house to get help.

The movie makes it clear that Nora’s death was the defining tragedy of Barry’s life, so he decides to use his power to go back in time and change what happened.

2. Who Kills Barry Allen’s Mom in The Flash Comics?

Eobard Thawne as Reverse Flash

Nora Allen’s death happened at the hands of Eobard Thawne, the Reverse-Flash in the comics.

When Barry tries to undo it by going back in time, he creates a new reality where everything worsens. Atlantis and Themyscira are at war, Batman is Thomas Wayne, not Bruce, and many other horrors. Thawne also becomes a super-powerful Speedster who could outmatch Barry in using the Speed Force.

The Flash movie has some different villains, like the evil versions of General Zod and Faora. There is also a Dark Flash, who is Barry’s younger self with powers.

However, the Reverse-Flash is not in the movie because of the different storyline that the film follows.

3. Barry’s Dad’s Fate after Nora Dies

Nora and Henry Allen

The Flash TV show and Zack Snyder’s Justice League share the tragic backstory of Barry Allen. A mysterious speedster killed his mother, Nora, and his father, Henry, was falsely accused and imprisoned.

Barry never gave up on his dad, even when he told him to let go and move on. He studied hard to become a forensic scientist and worked at a crime lab, hoping to find a way to clear his father’s name.

Barry also had another plan: to use his incredible speed to travel back in time and save his mom from her fate, changing everything.

This is how the comics shaped the story of The Flash, both on the small and big screens. Barry Allen’s life was turned upside down by the murder of his mother and the injustice done to his father. He dedicated himself to helping his dad from the outside while also becoming a hero in his own right.

However, what he actually wanted was to travel back in time and change the past itself. His love for his parents drove him to do the impossible: to run faster than time itself. How touching!

4. Barry Allen’s Emotional Journey to Save His Dad

In the movie, Barry realizes that he can’t save his mom without destroying the world, but he still finds a way to free his dad from the false accusation that ruined his life.

He accepts that his mom’s death is unavoidable and changes his past self’s actions to prevent his dad from being at home when the killer strikes.

He tweaks the past a little by moving the tomato cans to a higher shelf so that the security cameras capture his dad’s face. This small change makes a big difference in the present, as the new footage proves Henry’s innocence and gets him out of jail.

However, Barry doesn’t know that he also changed other things in this new timeline, like who wears the Batman suit. Instead of Keaton or Affleck, it’s now Clooney who plays the Dark Knight.

This could start a new era for the DCU, with Gunn and Safran as the new bosses. Will Barry be happy with this outcome, or will he try to change it again?

The mystery of Nora’s death is not fully solved yet. We still don’t know who really killed her.

Maybe it was done intentionally to keep us guessing and hoping for a sequel where the Reverse Flash is exposed as the culprit (like in the Flashpoint comic).

But no matter what, the story of The Flash is driven by Barry Allen’s love for his mother and his choice to let her go. It’s a tale of heartbreak and heroism.
