Who is Yuji Itadori’s parents in Jujutsu Kaisen? Is Kenjaku his mom?

Jujutsu Kaisen has diverse and vibrant characters, including sorcerers, curses, and civilians, and they have captured the hearts of fans worldwide. The protagonist, Yuji Itadori, stands out among the characters with his courageous and charismatic personality.

However, despite his central role in the story, little has been revealed about his backstory or family lineage. The story begins with Yuji’s grandfather on his deathbed, with a crucial question: would he like to uncover the truth about his parents?

Yuji’s parenting was barely mentioned in the story. While he was raised by his grandfather, little is known about his biological parents. However, a pivotal moment occurs in chapter 143 when we glimpse Yuji’s family.

We discover that Yuji was born to Jin and Kaori Itadori. In this scene, as a baby, Yuji is cradled by his father, Jin Itadori, and his grandfather, Wasuke Itadori, looks on. But the intrigue deepens.

Yuji’s mother, Kaori Itadori, was believed to be deceased before his birth. Moments later, a woman with stitch marks on her forehead appears, addressing Wasuke as “Father-in-law.” Chapter 208 confirms that this woman is indeed Kaori, defying her supposed demise.

Kenjaku can change body by switching brains. It did the same with Geto, and when he switched bodies, the host received a mark on their forehead, just like Geto. The stitch marks on Kaori’s forehead are further proof that she was controlled by Kenjaku.

Additionally, when Kenjaku was in Geto’s body, he showcased one of his unique abilities, gravity manipulation, which he later admits is the reversal of Kaori Itadori’s cursed technique, the Anti-Gravity System. All these points lead to one conclusion: YUJI IS THE SON OF KENJAKU, the most evil sorcerer in the history of Jujutsu Kaisen.

The Truth Behind Yuji’s Birth

Some fans have been discussing whether or not Kenjaku, who is believed to be Yuji’s mother, would allow Yuji to participate in the Culling Game. Despite evidence to the contrary, some argue that if Kenjaku indeed were Yuji’s parent, he wouldn’t willingly endanger his child. While Kenjaku doesn’t admit to being Yuji’s mother, he doesn’t deny it when criticized by Choso. However, his actions suggest that there might be some truth to the theory.

Kenjaku’s motive for having Yuji as a son transcends love or legacy. Instead, Yuji serves as a tool to achieve his ultimate goal. Considering Kenjaku’s millennia-long planning, having a child seems like a minor step.

Kenjaku’s willingness to manipulate or discard his offspring further underscores his commitment to reshaping the Jujutsu Kaisen universe. If you need more evidence, consider the panel in chapter #203 where Choso discusses his brothers, including Kechizu, Eso, and Yuji Itadori.

Choso questions Kenjaku’s intense interest in Yuji, considering the sorcerer has shown little concern for his other children—the nine Cursed Womb – Death Paintings.

Kenjaku’s response reveals that Yuji exists for a purpose—to serve as a vessel for Sukuna and a hub for continuous cursed spirit generation. There are many fan theories behind it.

One is that the Heinian Era Sukuna looked much more similar to Yuji. It makes sense that in chapter #257, Sukuna was recently revealed to be Yuji’s uncle (they are blood-related).

It is believed that the chances of Sukuna accepting Yuji as his vessel are one in a million. This is because anyone else could have consumed Sukuna’s finger and become his vessel. Kenjaku intentionally gave birth to Yuji in a specific manner, knowing that Sukuna might be able to regain his power as Yuji might be his best vessel.

If it turns out that Kenjaku is actually Yuji’s mother, it could lead to some fascinating possibilities. One theory is that Yuji is a perfected version of the Death Paintings, which would explain why Choso sees him as a brother. Additionally, Yuji’s ability to use Blood Manipulation against Sukuna—a technique only the Kamo Clan can perform—suggests a deeper connection.

Moreover, Kenjaku’s involvement in Yuji’s birth could explain his incredible strength, speed, and natural talent in jujutsu despite being an amateur. However, the mysteries surrounding Yuji’s origins remain unsolved, and it is uncertain if they will ever be revealed, especially with Kenjaku’s imminent demise.
