List of All the Deaths in Thor: Love and Thunder

Thor: Love and Thunder is one of those few films in the MCU which has multiple character deaths and still feels underwhelming. Nevertheless, if you’re wondering about your favorite characters and your faith in them being in the fourth installment of the series, you’ve come to the right place.

Jane Foster, Gorr: The God Butcher, and numerous Gods die in Thor: Love and Thunder. Gorr’s daughter dies at the film’s start, but she returns in the end. Zeus is presumed dead after Thor stabs him with Thunderbolt, but later, we see that he is alive.

Jane Foster Succumbs to Cancer

The film begins with Jane Foster undergoing chemotherapy. She has been diagnosed with stage four cancer, and nothing is working. This is when Mjolnir calls out to her; she travels to it, wields it, and transforms into the Mighty Thor.

It turns out that Thor had once commanded it to always protect Jane, when she and Thor were together, over eight years ago. Mjolnir thus senses Jane in peril and reaches out to her. However, it doesn’t quite do the job. Every time she picks up the hammer, it stops the chemotherapy from helping her body to recover, and her body loses the energy to fight cancer.

In the end, she picks up the hammer one last time to help Thor defeat Gorr. After this, she succumbs to cancer, and in the post-credits scene, we see her enter Valhalla, the Vikings’ heaven.

Gorr: The God Butcher Sacrifices Himself for His Daughter

In the beginning, Gorr’s daughter dies, which leads him to become the God Butcher. This path takes him to a place called the Gates of Eternity. Here, whatever he wishes for would come true.

Although Gorr initially intends to wish for all gods’ demise, Thor convinces him otherwise. He tells him that he could instead use his wish to bring his daughter back.

Since Gorr was wielding the Necromancer, he was already dying. The sword possessed a curse that would kill anyone wielding it for a long period. So, Gorr makes his one last wish, brings his daughter back, and then dies.

Rapu, Falligar, and Other Gods

Gorr’s first kill with the Necromancer is Rapu—the Bringer of Light. Gorr prays to this god to help him save his daughter, but his prayers remain unanswered. Instead, Gorr sees a joyful Rapu celebrating the death of some other being.

This makes Gorr angry, and he kills Rapu. Gorr then massacres multiple other gods, including, Falligar The Behemoth. We see this when there are numerous distress calls received by Thor and the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Overall, these are all the deaths in Thor: Love and Thunder. I haven’t mentioned Zeus because, as you’d have read above, he is very much alive and plans his revenge on Thor sometime in the future.
