Ranking the Seasons of Attack on Titan: Worst to Best

Can you believe it’s already been a decade since the anime first premiered? To celebrate this fantastic milestone, let’s look back and determine which season stood out as the most exceptional and which fell short.

Attack on Titan has been a true masterpiece and has had no bad seasons. But for the sake of comparison, I’d put Season 3 part 2 as the best, and Season 1 as the worst.

Let me explain why I think so –

Season 3 part 2: The Best

This season is the GOAT and I can’t say how much I loved it. The animation, the character development, the plot, it was all just perfect.

The Shiganshina arc was an action-packed, tense, and dramatic masterpiece. Erwin led the Survey Corps on a mission to reclaim Shiganshina District, which was super intense.

And let’s not forget Erwin’s final speech; it was legendary and brought tears to my eyes.

Season 1: The Worst

I consider this season the worst, and all the season 1 stans out there; you guys need to set your nostalgia aside and take a more objective look at it.

Season 1 was slow-paced, and Eren was quite irritating with all those self-righteous speeches and crying in long monologues while everyone else was fighting a war.

Alright, now that that’s settled, here’s how I would rank all the seasons –

Rankings

6th place – Season 1

This season may rank as the weakest, but that’s only because the other seasons had such mind-blowing moments.

The first season of Attack on Titan is awe-inspiring regarding animation and direction. It’s why so many of us became fans in the first place.

5th place – Season 2

The balance of character development and action in season 2 was phenomenal. It was written so well, and the graphics and design were gorgeous. It delved deeper into the characters and the world, which was a step up from season 1.

Even though the show hadn’t aired for over three years and its popularity had waned a bit, season 2 had some fantastic moments that made it stand out.

4th place – Season 3 Part 1

The third season was such a thrilling journey! The first part was about the Survey Corps making some significant changes; they even crowned Historia as the island’s ruler.

And let me tell you, the showdown between Levi and his uncle Kenny was intense.

Season 3 raised the bar in terms of storytelling. Instead of sticking to the classic humans vs. titans storyline, we saw more political maneuvering and human vs. human violence, it was such a breath of fresh air!

3rd place – Season 4 Part 2

The Rumbling in the anime was everything I hoped it would be! Better than I could’ve imagined from the manga. The flashbacks, especially about Marley, made the story even more captivating.

Saying goodbye to Levi was tough, but seeing his story play out was terrific. The revelation about Ymir and the Titans’ origin was intriguing and added to the world-building.

2nd place – Season 4 Part 1

Eren’s character development in this part of the season was mind-blowing. His transformation was intense and made perfect sense, even when it was shocking.

Eren’s infiltration of Marley was nothing short of amazing and acquiring the War Hammer Titan made him a total powerhouse.

1st place – Season 3 Part 2

This season of Attack on Titan was truly phenomenal! I was fully invested in the story and couldn’t help but cheer the characters on. It delivered on all fronts – action, drama, and suspense.
