Easy Guide to Locate and Obtain the Lighter – Amnesia: The Bunker

Amnesia: The Bunker is a survival horror game in which players have to make their way out of a desolate and nightmarish World War I bunker and survive the horrifying threat lurking in it. A lighter is always an essential part of a horror game, and it’s no different for this one.

A lighter will not only help you light your way forward in the dark bunker, but you can also use it for various other purposes like lighting torches, starting fires, and more. But to get to the lighter, you’ll need to traverse the grim corridors of the bunker.

The lighter is located inside a locker in Mission Storage. Players need to find A. Giraud’s dog tag with a random 4-digit code to unlock it.

Keep an eye out for rats getting in your way, as they might damage you, and you want to obtain the locker code in one piece. Use flares and gasoline to scare them off and clear the path forward.

Where to find A. Giraud’s dog tag in Amnesia: The Bunker?

A. Giraud’s dog tag can pop up in two possible locations:

  • Foreman’s Quarters
  • “Rats Keep Out” Room

Either of these locations will have the dog tag with the randomized 4-digit locker code on it.

Both of these locations are pretty close to each other, so you don’t have to traverse a lot if you don’t find the dog tag in Foreman’s Quarters. Now let’s get into the details of where these locations are and how to get to them.

Possible Location 1: Foreman’s Quarters

Foreman’s Quarters – Amnesia: The Bunker

Foreman’s Quarters are located in the Maintenance Area which is located after the office quarters. Go left while coming from the Administration Room; head down and turn left, and you’ll reach the “maintenance” tunnel. Go past the officer’s bunks. Before reaching the stairs, turn right, and you’ll come across a pack of rats in front of the wine cellar.

Use flares or gasoline to scare them away. I don’t recommend running past them, as they might damage you. Walk through the path until you come across a door on the right that is blocked off with wooden planks that says, “Rats Keep Out”. Keep walking, and you’ll notice a stairway to the left. Head up there, and you’ll find the dog tag in the room at the top of the staircase.

Possible Location 2: “Rats Keep Out” Room

If the dog tag isn’t there in Foreman’s Quarters, then backtrack your way back to the “Rats Keep Out” Room that you came across earlier. The dog tag should be in that room.

Simply take off the wooden planks blocking the door, and you’re free to enter the room. There’ll be a desk to your left as soon as you enter the room, and the dog tag will be there on that desk. Rotate the dog tag to check the locker code.

Head to Mission Storage after obtaining the dog tag. There are two doors to this room, but both of them are locked. Fortunately, there’s a vent between the two doors from where a red light is pouring out, so it’s hard to miss. You can enter the room from there by climbing up the boxes and into the room.

Inside the room, look for A. Giraud’s locker. After finding it, put in the code that you found at the back of the dog tag. The code will be listed in the code section of the inventory menu, so you can check it from there too. Enter the locker code and open it up. The lighter should be right there on the top shelf.
