“The Hippogriff Marks The Spot” Map location in Hogwarts Legacy

Hogwarts Legacy is the best game I have played set in the wizarding world, giving us a taste of the life, we had yearned for so long. With quests and side- missions dotting our Hogwarts Legacy journey, we are able to live an adventurous life as fifth-year students.

There are several main quests in the game and many missions we need to complete alongside. With interesting names, you don’t want to miss any, as completing these have great rewards. Like rescuing and taming the sole phoenix in the game!

A side quest in the Highlands, The Hippogriff Marks the Spot, requires one to find a map to start the quest. This can be found in a tent in the Bandit camp at Poidsear Coast. The Ashwinders in the camp need to be defeated to enter the tent.

Why should we complete The Hippogriff Marks the Spot quest in Hogwarts Legacy?

The Hippogriff Marks the Spot is a vital quest in Hogwarts Legacy. Though it is a side mission in the Highlands and a continuation of a quest, it provides important elements for two other side quests: Rescuing Rococo and Solved by the Bell.

The Hippogriff Marks the Spot quest will reward you with the Treasure-Seeker’s Gloves, a handwear: armor for your character’s hands. The mission will also help you complete another side-quest, Rescuing Rococo, along the way, as both quests require you to go to the same location. And so does Solved by the Bell, which will begin where The Hippogriff Marks the Spot ends.

Thus, three quests can be completed in one go.

Go to the Poidsear Coast through the Poidsear Castle Floo Flame in the World Map. At the Bandit camp on the coast, several Ashwinders need to be defeated. The map can be retrieved from the table in the tent on the west side of the ruins.

To begin the quest, you need to go to the Poidsear Coast to obtain the map that will lead you to the first location of the quest. The magical serpents at the camp can be defeated using the Petrificus Totalus charm or any other suitable spell of your choice. If you are sneaky enough, you can also avoid the bandits and slip into the half-open tent found west of the ruins in the location.

Henrietta’s map will lie on the table unprotected and free to be acquired.

I. Henrietta’s Hideaway

Head to the location shown by Henrietta’s map obtained from Poidsear Coast, Henrietta’s Hideaway. Defeat the enemies at the location or sneak into the ruins via the secret back entrance.

Using the map you acquired from the tent at Bandit’s Camp, head to Henrietta’s Hideaway, which is where the map will point you. At the ruins, there will be several enemies, and they need to be defeated to enter the ruins from its front entrance.

However, if you wish to take the sneaky approach, you can stealthily fly out on your broom (or beast) to the opposite side of the ruins and enter through the secret entrance that will be found down a flight of stairs.

The double doors lead to Henrietta’s Hideaway. Also, remember to use Revelio to acquire all the smaller rewards along the way!

II. Spell Cube (Puzzle 1)

Incendio or Confringo can be used to create fire in Hogwarts Legacy

Use the fire and ice spell cubes to open the doors in front. The brazier held by the nearby statue is to be utilized to light out the fire spell cube and lift it onto the platform. Light the fire cube and freeze the ice cube for the front doors to open.

On entering the Hideaway, there will be two spell cubes in front of you that can be distinctively identified as being of fire (orange) and ice (blue). Showcase your skills at casting spells and complete this puzzle.

Light the brazier of the statue to your left using a suitable spell like Incendio or Confringo. This will cause the brazier to turn and pop out the light in the fire cube. Lift it onto its designated platform using the famous Wing-gar-dium Levi-o-sa and light up the fire cube again. Freeze the ice cube using Glacius.

Voila! The double doors have opened!

III. Hippogriff Torch Puzzle

A battle with the Ashwinders is necessary upon reaching the Hippogriff statue. Light and put out the braziers arranged on the table until they match the pattern shown on the map. This will open a secret room behind the statue that holds a box containing the reward.

You need to go down a flight of stairs past the double doors, where you will chance upon a Hippogriff statue. But, word of caution, several Ashwinders in the area need to be battled and defeated to move forward in the quest.

On defeating all of them, arrange the braziers on the table to match the image on Henrietta’s map. Incendio and Glacius are your allies! The pattern required in the clockwise direction from the brazier in front of the statue is:

  1. Unlit brazier
  2. Unlit brazier
  3. Lit brazier
  4. Unlit brazier
  5. Lit brazier
  6. Unlit brazier
  7. Lit brazier
  8. Lit brazier

You will know you have gotten the pattern down when the statue moves to reveal a secret room behind it. And there sits a box for you to open. You have obtained the Treasure-Seeker’s Gloves! And completed The Hippogriff Marks the Spot quest!

Congratulations! You have knocked one more quest down!
