A Complete Guide to Locations of Smithing Stones in Elden Ring

Your progression in Elden Ring makes foes more bloodthirsty than before. Therefore, to be able to keep up with their brutality, you’ll need to constantly upgrade your armaments with the help of Smithing Stones.

Smithing Stones in Elden Ring are rare materials that can be found all across The Lands Between as some are dropped by random foes, while others are obtained from mining outposts or vendors. Once collected, these stones are taken to Smithing Tables for upgrading regular weapons and shields.

On top of this, there are nine different tiers of Smithing Stones for players to find, where a higher tier Smithing Stone is needed to upgrade a more powerful weapon.

Here’s a table demonstrating the effects of each level of Smithing Stone:

Smithing Stone tier Effects
Smithing Stone (1) Increases weapons up to +3
Smithing Stone (2) Increases weapons up to +6
Smithing Stone (3) Increases weapons up to +9
Smithing Stone (4) Increases weapons up to +12
Smithing Stone (5) Increases weapons up to +15
Smithing Stone (6) Increases weapons to to +18
Smithing Stone (7) Increases weapons up to +21
Smithing Stone (8) Increase weapons to +24

Now that you get the gist of how Smithing Stones work, let’s dip into where to find them.

To get Smithing Stones from the Stormhill Statue, you will have to make them break the sculpture for you. To do so, move in the direction of the figure and get the attention of the ogre. Dodge the trolls’ hits when they attack you so that the statue’s wrecked instead of you.

Once broken, you will find five Smithing Stones [1] and a Smithing Stone [2] inside the Stormhill Statue.

To farm Smithing Stones in Elden Ring, head to Raya Lucaria Crystal Tunnel and beat Crystalian in a boss fight. Upon dying, this blue-colored foe will drop Smithing Stone Miner’s Bell Bearing [1]. Give this item to the Twin Maiden Husks at the Roundtable Hold to buy Tier 1 & 2 Smithing Stones indefinitely from them in exchange for runes.

Note: To find Crystalian, you will have to keep descending upon entering the Raya Lucaria Crystal Tunnel.

Elden Ring - Crystalian Boss Fight

Since Crystalian comes with abundant health and fights using a floaty approach, it would be better to be defensive while taking him on. Despite being a challenging opponent, this boss has one weakness: he can be backstabbed. Therefore, try to land your blows once you’re behind him.
