Marvel’s next big miniseries, Secret Invasion, is nearing its release on Disney+. But these days as a Marvel fan, the first question that I ask about a new series is where it fits in the ever-so-complicated MCU timeline.
If you’re here looking for an answer to the same question, I am clearly not alone. As we all know, Secret Invasion is a new Disney+ series that will explore the infiltration of shape-shifting aliens known as Skrulls into the MCU.
The show is based on a comic book storyline of the same name, where the Skrulls secretly replaced many superheroes and villains with impostors. The series will have implications on the future of the MCU and is set in “present day MCU” as per Marvel Studios’ official synopsis.
Secret Invasion fits in the MCU timeline after the events of Spider-Man: Far From Home and WandaVision, where the Skrulls have been secretly replacing some of the characters in the MCU with their own agents. It will reveal the extent of their infiltration and how it will affect the MCU going forward.

The MCU timeline became more complex after the five-year gap between Thanos’ snap in Avengers: Infinity War and its undoing in Avengers: Endgame. For instance, Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumania is set sometime in 2025. Secret Invasion, based on its official synopsis, likely occurs around the same period.

In Marvel Studios’ new series Secret Invasion, set in the present day MCU, Nick Fury learns of a clandestine invasion of Earth by a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls. Fury joins his allies, including Everett Ross, Maria Hill and the Skrull Talos, who has made a life for himself on Earth. Together they race against time to thwart an imminent Skrull invasion and save humanity.
Secret Invasion is likely set after other Disney+ series such as Moon Knight, She-Hulk, and Ms. Marvel. The show will have significant implications for the MCU, as it will pave the way for future projects such as Armor Wars, The Marvels, and possibly Captain America: New World Order.
How Secret Invasion Will Affect Upcoming MCU Projects
Secret Invasion will affect the timeline of the upcoming MCU projects as well as question the reliability of several incidents that happened in the past.
It will create a lot of distrust and paranoia among the heroes and villains, as well as the audience. It will also raise questions about who is really behind some of the events that happened in the previous movies and shows.
It will also pave the way for other projects such as Armor Wars, The Marvels, and possibly Captain America: New World Order. But to know more about how it will affect the aforementioned shows, we’ve to wait for the show to premiere. Based on what happens in the series, we can predict more accurately how it will affect the upcoming projects.
