The Cursed Tomb Treasure Quest is one of the main treasure hunts you will come across while exploring the southern Highlands in Hogwarts Legacy.
What sets this quest apart is that it is connected to a side quest and an Ancient Magic Hotspot.
The Cursed Tomb Treasure Quest involves deciphering a Map Fragment and solving a puzzle before finding the Treasure, thus making it one of the trickiest quests in the game. The reward or “Treasure” is a Treasure-Seeker’s Attire.
You can start the hunt after completing “The Helm of Urtkot” main quest. You should also remember to keep the highest level Alohomora spell and Flipendo spell ready with you so as to help you progress through the quest easily.
Here is how to find the Map Fragment and locate the Treasure attached to it.
1. Where to Find the Treasure Map Fragment
Go to the Manor Cape Region in the far south of the Highlands and find the Bainburgh Floo Flame. From here, summon your Broom and travel southwest to the abandoned manor.
Next you will need to get into the basement of the manor. You can either do this by going through the manor itself or finding a skeleton statue with a secret entrance.
If you choose to go through the manor, inside, you will encounter many Inferius whom you can defeat with the fire spell. Once you are able to make it past them, find the basement door and unlock it with the level 3 Alohomora spell.
If you choose the other option, find a small mausoleum with a skeleton statue up the hill from the fast travel point. Lighting the brazier of the statue with Incendio or Confringo will make it turn and show you a secret entrance underground leading to the basement.
In this underground room, you will be ambushed by two Infamous Foes: Alisa Travers and the Lord of the Manor. You might also encounter some more Inferius. Use explosive barrels and braziers to defeat them all.
Once you’ve done that, head over to the Chest in the corner and open it with a level 1 Alohomora spell to collect the Mysterious Map Fragment.
2. Where to Locate the Cursed Tomb Treasure
When you open the Map Fragment, you will see an X marking the location of the Treasure. The location appears to be between two mountains. You will also see a solution to a puzzle, but this will not be relevant until you actually find the Treasure.
The location of the Cursed Tomb Treasure is the Tomb of Treachery. You can find this tomb near a Merlin Trial in the northwestern region of the Poidsear Coast, hidden behind a waterfall.
After you fly through the waterfall, go past the standing stones till you see the Floo Flame. You will then reach a tomb filled with bones.
Here, you will have to defeat large spiders and burn cobwebs with a fire spell. Once you make it past this stage, you will see a Door with a Moths Puzzle.
3. How to Unlock the Moths Door
The Door has slots for 3 Moths. You will need to locate them in the dungeon and use Lumos to pick them up and place them in the door.
Here’s where you can find the 3 Moths:
- Go to the right of the door. You will see the first moth immediately.
- The second moth is in the same area. You can find it behind some cobwebs.
- The last moth is in the opposite direction, inside a room. Use Accio and Leviosa to move the large box in the room closer to the platform.
Get to the top of the platform by climbing on top of the box. The moth will be right in front of you.
After you have put all the moths in the door, it will open into the final room.
4. How to Solve the Tomb of Treachery Puzzle
On entering the final room, you will encounter several Inferius again. Luckily, you will have explosive barrels to get rid of them. After you’ve cleared the room, look for the final puzzle.
The Tomb of Treachery puzzle consists of 8 stones placed around the Treasure in the shape of a square. Now is when the puzzle solution from the Map will come in handy.
The solution shows three arrows on three different stones pointing upwards. Use Flipendo to turn over the exact same stones in the puzzle to reveal arrows pointing away from you.
A Chest will rise from the centre of the puzzle and inside it you will find the Treasure. You have now completed the Cursed Tomb Treasure Quest!
5. What is the Final Treasure?
The Final Treasure is a Treasure-Seeker’s Outfit. This outfit is a type of gear that includes pieces of armor.
Besides allowing you to customize your appearance, the Attire also protects you from damage during combat. It can certainly be very useful in the gameplay.
6. About Hogwarts Legacy
Hogwarts Legacy is an open-world RPG from Avalanche Studio. The game places the player in the wizarding school of Hogwarts, allowing them to witness the iconic locations as a character other than Harry Potter.
