See Season 2 Ending Explained: Will Baba Voss return?

Season 2 of See ended on an ominous note. Although the war was over, Edo Voss was defeated, and Baba Voss’ family was finally together, things were far from okay. With Baba Voss leaving the new capital city, his family wasn’t safe from the threats coming their way. These threats can be seen in Season 3’s trailer.

So, what exactly happens at the end of Season 2 of See? Why did Baba Voss leave? What does it mean for Season 3?

At the end of Season 2, the Payans win the war and Edo Voss dies. Sibeth kills Paris using a hidden weapon. Baba Voss decides to leave his kids with Maghra. Jerlamarel’s son, Oloman, successfully builds an explosive and demonstrates it before Edo’s mentor.

Evidently, a lot happens in the season finale. Let me take you through each significant event.

The War with Edo Voss and the Trivantians

The Payans and the Trivantians go to war, thanks to Sibeth’s schemes while she was Queen. The war takes place at the Greenhill Gap, where Payans strategically place their armies to overpower the opponent.

Initially, the Trivantians have a clear advantage in terms of their numbers. But after Bow Lion and the tribes of Paya join Baba Voss’ troops, the power balance shifts towards them. In the end, the Payans win, and almost all Trivantian soldiers die, except for Wren and Edo Voss.

Knowing that his life is over anyway, Edo Voss challenges Baba Voss to a fight. He knows the council will not show him mercy, so he might as well go out as a soldier. Baba Voss doesn’t intend to fight his younger brother, but the two inevitably clash. Edo Voss then dies in Baba’s arms.

Baba Voss Leaves Maghra and His Kids

Baba Voss has been through a lot since Season 1. He is very well aware that Haniwa and Kofun are not his biological kids but is reminded of this almost every day. His daughter almost always chooses to side with Jerlamarel and his intentions, even though she has never met him. We all know where that leads to.

In Season 2, Baba Voss rescues Haniwa from the Trivantians and Edo Voss, and when he returns, he learns that his wife Maghra is now married to Lord Harlan. This causes him even more distress.

Beyond all this, he has to fight his brother in the end. Baba Voss had decided to leave that part of his life behind, but his guilt never left him. The way he tortured his younger brother, Edo Voss, clearly haunted him even today. But none of it mattered because he had broken his oath and killed Edo Voss.

When you look at how much Baba Voss has endured in such a short time, you feel bad for him. You can’t blame Maghra for doing what she did because the family wouldn’t be together if not for that. The fight with Edo Voss was inevitable, too.

So, in the end, Baba Voss decides to leave because he can’t take it anymore. He realizes that with the war over and Maghra as the Queen of Paya, her kids will be safe with her. So, he leaves.

Sibeth Kills Paris

Paris has been one of the most significant characters in the show since Season 1. She’s been there with Baba Voss and Maghra through everything and cares for their children like nobody else. Sadly, we had to see her fall prey to one of Sibeth’s ploys.

At the end of the episode, Sibeth seems to be crying out in pain. As we know, she was pregnant with Kofun’s child, so Paris decided to check on her.

As the two talk, Sibeth tries to gain sympathy while getting closer to Paris. Once she is close enough, she uses a hidden weapon to slit Paris’ throat. The latter gasps for air as blood oozes out, which marks the character’s end.

Oloman, Edo Voss’ Mentor, and the Explosive

After Edo Voss killed Jerlamarel at the beginning of the season, his son Oloman took over and was forced to work with Edo’s mentor. We didn’t know what the two were up to until the season finale.

We see Oloman take Edo’s mentor to an open ground and demonstrates how an explosive works. He says that with this, all the enemies of Trivantians, including the Payans, will be destroyed.

What will happen in Season 3 of See?

Season 3 is just around the corner, and the trailer is out, too. We see Sibeth gain a following, and she’s most likely siding with the people who have the explosives. It also means that after killing Paris, she managed to escape Pennsa. Besides this, we see Baba Voss fighting alongside Kofun and Haniwa, which means he returns, too.

But there were two crucial aspects to this trailer. The first one was that bombs were going off in every other shot, which means Baba Voss will fight the battle of his lifetime.

The second one was the slate that read ‘The Final Chapter.’ This means that Season 3 could be the final season, and we’ll also get an answer to what the world would look like in the future. Would it have people with or without sight, or would the two coexist? We’ll find out soon.
