Web Manga ‘Jiisan Baasan Wakagaeru’ Greenlit for an Anime Adaptation

For retired couple Ine and Shozo Saito, the good old days are about to surprise them once again, as they’ll get to relive their youth as 20-year-olds in a TV anime adaptation of Kagiri Araido’s Jiisan Baasan Wakagaeru (Grandpa and Grandma Turn Young Again)  online manga.

On Wednesday, Kadokawa revealed that Kagiri Araido’s Jiisan Baasan Wakagaeru (Grandpa and Grandma Turn Young Again) manga is inspiring a television anime adaptation.

Kadokawa did not reveal any other details for the anime, but revealed a visual for the anime and an illustration by Araido to celebrate the anime’s announcement.

In the visual, we can see the old couple once again in their youth, which was once a thing of the past.

Araido Kagiri also released an illustration celebrating Jiisan Baasan Wakagaeru’s anime announcement, featuring the pair in the farming outfits they would have often been seen wearing in their old age.

The manga was launched on pixiv in October 2019, and it has since garnered over 100 million views. The manga was ranked #6 in the Web Manga category of the sixth “Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Taishō” in 2020.

Kadokawa published the manga’s sixth compiled book volume in October 2022, and will publish the seventh volume on August 16.

Reliving your youth once again is something many people can relate to, and with this anime, I think people will find themselves on a nostalgic trip.
