Thorfinn’s friend Einar died, as we saw in the last chapter, and many settlers leave. Thorfinn tried hard to stop violence, but it wasn’t possible.

Thorfinn returns home to his family and sees his wife Gudrid and their sons, Karli and baby Snorri. The moment is quiet and peaceful. Thorfinn feels both sad and calm. He knows the dream of building a perfect land, Vinland, has failed but being with his family gives him peace.

Still, there is some hope. A young Lnu named Plmk grows wheat from seeds Thorfinn gave him. This shows that small acts of trust can still grow. Thorfinn learns that peace isn’t about finding a perfect place. It’s about living with love and care, even when life is hard. That is his true ending.

Vinland Saga is set in ancient Viking times, where a young Thorfinn’s life goes astray when his father Thors – a well-known retired warrior – is killed while on a journey.

Thorfinn then finds himself under the jurisdiction of his enemy – his father’s killer – and hopes to seek revenge on him when he grows stronger. The anime is loosely based on the expedition of Thorfinn Karlsefni in his search for Vinland.
