1. Chapter 188 Discussion
With the latest chapter 187, there is nothing major to uncover in how the chapter played out. The only fun part was Bug-Eyes understanding and communicating with Nisqauji’j’ which I found good about.
As the Nordic people and the native tribe understand their culture variations, what will happen when the tribes’ men and Nisqauji’j’ try to let Thorfinn and the people know about the impact of clearing forests?
I hope we get to see Bug-Eyes’ character develop a bit as he is knowledgeable in certain aspects even in this chapter with translation and understanding other cultures.

Chapter 188 of the Vinland Saga manga has been released on Wednesday, Nov 24, 2021. The chapter title has not been leaked yet.
Vinland Saga serializes in the Monthly Afternoon, a magazine published by Kondasha, which releases on the 24th-25th of every month.

4. Recap of Chapter 187
This chapter starts with the Norsemen finding underground water and checking if it’s drinkable. Some of the Norsemen find it a bit salty and realize it could be due to the coast being near them.
Thorfinn puts himself forward to test if the water is poisonous, for a month. Einar mentions he had a feeling Thorfinn would do that and tells him to stop drinking the water if he feels sick.
The Norsemen decide if the water is poisonous, they’ll make a canal from the river so that it won’t cause inconvenience to the settlement. Bug-Eyes mentions it seems hard work and tells Thorfinn it’ll work out if he is on it.
As they were discussing the water, Lnu folks arrived in the village. Thorfinn sees them walking on the wheat fields and tries to stop them. Finding out how to say stop in the Lnu language from Bug-Eyes, Thorfinn tries and let the Lnu folks know.
Nisqauji’j’ asks Bug-Eyes in her language, but he doesn’t understand anything she says. After letting her know that he doesn’t fully get the language, Nisqauji’j’ leaves with a dull face. Some men mention how he made Nisqauji’j’ sad, but Bug-Eyes thinks otherwise.
Later, Nisqauji’j’ walks through the settlements, and wonders how she’ll learn about the Nordic people if she can’t speak the same language. She recalls her dream of fields of land and how the people will change it.
Exploring the settlement, Nisqauji’j’ finds a ship and is fascinated by it. When she tries to touch the vessel, Eyvar tells her not to do so. Spooked by Eyvar’s approach, Nisqauji’j’ runs away and bumps into Cordelia and gets asked if she’s alright.
Later Nisqauji’j’ is in front of Bug-Eyes and gets rammed by a sheep. Bug-Eyes tells her the sheep does that to most people. Nisqauji’j’ pointing at the sheep says, ‘Goqweinet?’ and Teluisi understands she’s said this before near the well.
Figuring out ‘goqweinet’ means ‘what’s that,’ Teluisi teaches Nisqauji’j’ the translation, and she finds out the animal is a sheep. Nisqauji’j’ is pleased she learned some new words from Bug-Eyes, and they get acquainted.

You can read the Vinland Saga by buying the manga from Kodansha USA. They are currently 12 volumes behind, with only 11 of 23 translated so far.
Currently, there is no official way to read Vinland Saga manga online. However, soon enough, there will be one. Kodansha Comics has announced that they will be providing digital comics very soon via InkyPen Nintendo Switch.
