Writer Shares Exciting Update about HBO Max’s Upcoming Show Green Lantern

Mark Guggenheim, one of the writers of HBO Max’s upcoming DC drama Green Lantern, shared an exciting update about the progress of the series.

Green Lantern is one of the most awaited DC dramas in the making, with the executive producer of Arrowverse, Greg Berlanti, on board. It was first announced back in 2019, but taken up to series by HBO Max in 2020.

The series is all set to be the most expensive DC series till date and will follow various superheroes, along with focusing on multiple members of the Green Lantern corps.

Mark Guggenheim, one of the writers of Green Lantern, recently shared an interesting update about the show’s development in an interview by the fan podcast, Hall of Justice.

He confirmed that the writers have almost completed writing the script for Season 1. During the recording of the interview, he was in the process of writing the finale of the season. He shared,

“First of all, I think it’s important to note that I’m not show running this show. So, I have even less license than normal to speak about it… I wish I could talk about it. It’s a really, really cool project. It’s obviously very near and dear to my heart… I can say that I’m—it’s funny, I’m working today, in fact, on the outline for the season finale. So, we’re working away.”

Apart from this recent update about the show’s progress, there are other confirmed details about the drama. Lee Toland Kreiger has been roped in to direct the first two episodes. Kreiger has previously worked in various shows produced by Greg Berlanti.

Finn Wittrock and Jeremy Irvine were also previously cast as Guy Gardner and Alan Scott in the series.

A new character named Bree Jarta will also reportedly be introduced in the show. The makers are in the process of casting other popular Green Lantern Corps characters, including Jessica Cruz, Kilowog, Sinestro and Simon Baz.

Once filming begins for DC and HBO Max’s most ambitious project till date, the show should target a 2023 premiere.
