A new promotional video for the TV anime UniteUP! was unveiled at the Animate Girls Festival 2022, held on November 5. The video reveals the staff and a January 7 premiere date.
The official website for the anime also released a new key visual.
The show is set to release on Tokyo MX, Tochigi TV, Gunma TV, BS11, HTB Hokkaido TV, and MBS.
The CloverWorks-produced anime is being directed by Shin’chiro Ushijima, and the series scripts are being overseen by Rino Yamakazi. Majiro is the character designer and chief animation director for the show, alongside Asami Komatsu and Yurie Hama.
Other staff members include Hiromi Ishigami as action director, Masakazu Miyake as art director, Kazuko Nakashima as color designer, Yukiko Nagase as photography director, and Yuki Hayashi as music composer.
The anime’s story focuses on Akira Kiyose, who sings on a video streaming site under the alias KIKINOYU. One day, the talent agency sMiLea Production, founded by a retired legendary idol pair AneLa, scouts Akira.
Retired icons founded the agency to train new budding idols. Once scouted, Akira forms an idol group with Banri Naoe and Chihiro Isuzugawa, who was also another find by the agency.
Their new group Protostar will have their debut along with other idol groups that sMiLea Production has bought together, such as Legit and Jaxx Jaxx.

UniteUp! is a Japanese mixed-media project created by Sony Music Entertainment Japan. It began with a YouTube channel in November 2021, which featured songs from various artists of different genres.
A television anime series for UniteUp! premiered on January 7, 2023. CloverWorks has produced the series.
