Is Ubisoft’s Skull and Bones Finally Setting Sail?

Ubisoft announced its multiplayer pirate game during E3 2017, titled Skull and Bones. An extended gameplay trailer was showcased during E3 2018, but since then, the game has undergone delays after delays.

The initial hype of Skull and Bones died out as it has been five years since the initial announcement, and the release date has still not been officially revealed. Although, Ubisoft has fueled the fire again after announcing its gameplay reveal, which hints that Skull and Bones might finally set sail this year.

Sea of Thieves is also one such game using the multiplayer pirate formula, and its success proves that there is space for such games right now. Sea of Thieves players, you should keep an eye out on this reveal which might give you new waters to conquer.

How to watch Skull and Bones’ gameplay reveal?

The Ubisoft Forward Skull and Bones Spotlight premieres on Thursday, July 7 at 11:00 am PT / 2:00 pm ET / 8:00 pm CEST on YouTube and Twitch. This will be the first time the game will take part in Ubisoft’s Forward event.

If you fondly remember the naval battles in Assasin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, you might enjoy Skull and Bones, as the game draws heavy inspiration from the AC classic.

So far, we know that the game is set in the Indian Ocean during the piracy period and can be played solo or with a crew of four to five. Two months ago, a Reddit post provided leaked gameplay footage from alpha testing that revealed resource gathering, ship crafting, NPC crew mutinies, and plenty of sailing around while firing cannons at ships and forts.

The footage wasn’t particularly impressive, and we are hoping that the gameplay reveal will tell us more about Skull and Bones. So fingers crossed, Ubisoft might also show the release date as well. Skull of Bones is expected to release on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
