Tulsa King Ep 5 Ending Explained: Watch Out for Waltrip!

We’re in the thick of following Sylvester Stallone’s Dwight, a mafia capo who has to re-acquaint himself with the world after a 25-year prison sentence.

In the previous episode, we saw that Dwight is through and through a family man, caring deeply for his sick brother and wanting to make things right with his estranged daughter. So is he able to? What exactly happens in Tulsa King Episode 5?

In Tulsa King Episode 5, Waltrip uses his connections to get Dwight’s gang arrested while Dwight learns that Nico molested his daughter, Tina, in his absence.

Here’s a detailed recap; let’s get into it!

Waltrip Terrorizes Dwight’s Men

Waltrip

As we learned in the previous episode, Dwight’s brother, Joe, was sick with cancer and succumbed to the illness. He thus leaves Tulsa to go attend the funeral.

Waltrip takes this as an opportunity to get back at Dwight. The biker is already fuming over the fact that Dwight not only robbed them of their earnings but is also slowly taking over their territory and business.

So, with his connections with the police, he gets Tyson arrested. Tyson’s arrest eventually leads to Bodhi getting interrogated, too. Both men have had no experience dealing with the police and suffer unfair treatment and coercion as a result.

It’s unsure if this experience will make them reconsider being part of Dwight’s operations, but it certainly opens their eyes to how dangerous it can get.

Finally, the cops try to use Tyson and Bodhi to interrogate Mitch. But having some prior experience, he is able to shoo the cops away as they have no legal standing to question any of them.

What is perhaps scarier is the realization that Waltrip himself is a much more dangerous man than the police. After reading about him online, they find out that he has a god complex and has committed (at least) three homicides—all of which he got cleared for.

A powerful, bloodthirsty man with connections—Waltrip sure is a great antagonist for this show! Dwight better watch out for him.

Dwight Learns a Shocking Truth About his Daughter

The second main storyline in this episode was about Dwight attending his brother’s funeral.

Tina

This is also the first time he gets to see his daughter in person after 25 years. But it is no surprise that Tina wants nothing to do with him. Although her attitude initially deters him, he eventually works up the courage to ask for her forgiveness once again.

This is where Tina reveals that his incompetence as a father has cost her greatly, especially as his associations with the mafia led to her getting molested by Nico.

This shocks and angers Dwight, and he rushes to ask a hospitalized Pete if he knows anything about the matter. Once Pete washes his hands off it, Dwight directly confronts Nico with Chickie and the other gang members present.

Push comes to shove, and Dwight ends up killing Nico—an action that makes Chickie even warier of him. While Dwight is right in seeking justice, Chickie is beginning to realize that he’s too hard to control and too powerful and charismatic. This may ultimately make him Chickie’s direct competition.

Overall, this episode gives us an all-around development to take the story forward.
