Minato discovers more about himself and kyudo’s essence in episode 6 of Tsurune: The Linking Shot titled “Taking Shape.”

As a local public tournament comes around, the club boys gather and participate in the festivities and meet many familiar faces in the kyudo world, including Minato’s old teacher Saonji.

Seo and the girls participate in the tournament and show their application of ikiai to the peak potential. Everyone in the audience is highly impressed by their innate talent and skill in the sport.

Episode 7 Speculation

Masaki has seen Minato’s improvement in both form and mindset for kyudo, and he has also been stalking him as he practices his form without using a bow. Masaki will likely let him pick up the bow next episode because his passion for the sport remains the same.

We should also see more club members try and get their form perfected and not try and change it but instead hone their natural state to its maximum potential.

The public kyudo tournament starts with multiple little events and snack stalls that everyone around the town comes to see. Minato, Shu, and Seiya run into each other and decide to team up for the tournament.

Minato says he wanted Seiya and Shu to talk more, which was why he suggested the idea. The girls are also at the tournament and meet up with Ryohei and the other club members.

Minato gets word that Saionji-sensei would also be a guest at the tournament today, piques Minato’s interest. Seo and the group team together and gather for the start of the game.

Minato wishes he was also playing in the tournament, which is noticed by Masaki and everyone else in the club. Yuuna takes a shot and lands it to the applause of everyone present.

They talk about each member of the girl’s team, their form and positioning, and their unique skills and ways of performing the art that is kyudo. They have an individual tempo and practice drawing the bow and releasing the shot.

Saionji-sensei meets up with the team after the tournament, shares her thoughts and praises, and catches up with Minato and the other members. She also talks about ikiai and what it truly means, the state of mind during the draw shot.

Minato goes out into a field with nothing but his hands and imitates the form of taking a shot, and Masaki watches hidden in the bushes. They celebrate the end of the tournament with some yakiniku and banter.
