The long-awaited season two of Tsukiuta, was initially set to release in 2019. It was pushed to April 2020 and is now delayed once again due to the ongoing pandemic.
This series will join A3! SPRING AND SUMMER and The Misfit of Demon King Academy in the list of animes that have been delayed due to the pandemic which has brought the whole world to a standstill.
1. New Release Date
The franchise’s official Twitter on Monday announced that Tsukiuta. THE ANIMATION season 2 is postponed to July due to the ongoing pandemic.
On the franchise’s website, the production team apologized for the delay, as the Animation was supposed to be released in 2019 but was moved to April 2020.
It was also confirmed that the anime will be airing on Tokyo MX on Wednesdays at 10:30 p.m., and will also air on KBS Kyoto, Sun TV, TV Aichi, BS11.
2. Series Themed CDs Announced
With the announcement regarding the release date, two series themed CDs were also released, which will be featuring the opening theme “Paint It Black” by Six Gravity and another theme “White Sparks” by Procellarum.
They will be going on sale from June 26 and will also include a lottery ticket to win a chance to see the anime’s finale episode at a special screening in the Kanto region.
3. Production Details
The series has gotten a new studio with great staff, Yukio Nishimoto (The Galaxy Railways, Justeen, Music Girls) will be directing the anime at Children’s Playground Entertainment (Cerberus).
Scripts will be handled by Natsuko Takahashi (Hakyū Hōshin Engi, Norn9, Poco’s Udon World) while Michinori Chiba (Mobile Suit Gundam 00, Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans) and Ai Yokoyama (Space Battleship Tiramisu, Usuzumizakura -Garo-) will be adapting the original character designs for Animation.
The original work and original story draft are headed by Fujiwara (MOVIC).
4. Series Plot
Tsukiuta. THE ANIMATION, follows the Tokyo idol unit Six Gravity (with characters representing December to May) and their rivals, Procellarum (with idols born in Western Japan and representing June to November).The story portrays their daily life, the moments they share, the stress that is accompanied by being a Tokyo Idol, and more.
5. Characters and Cast
The characters of Tsukiuta are divided into four idol groups – two male idol groups, and two female idol groups with twelve members each.
Each idol represents a specific month. The upcoming sequel will be focusing on the male idol group.
