Queen Poppy & Branch Return in Trolls 3 Trailer with Pop-tastic Music

The newly released trailer for Trolls Band Together features Queen Poppy and Branch embarking on a new musical adventure with a touch of boy band flair.

The previous edition, Trolls World Tour, was released concurrently in cinemas and through video-on-demand when the COVID-19 outbreak was at its peak, resulting in AMC Theaters boycotting Universal releases until the dispute was settled in 2020.

While the film didn’t do well in theaters, its video-on-demand sales skyrocketed during the pandemic, prompting the announcement of a third installment in 2021.

In the trailer, we get a glimpse of the movie’s storyline, which will see our beloved characters Branch (voiced by Justin Timberlake) and Poppy (voiced by Anna Kendrick) reuniting to rescue Floyd (voiced by Troye Sivan) from the clutches of the primary antagonists, Velvet (voiced by Amy Schumer) and Veneer (voiced by Andrew Rannells).

Here’s the full synopsis-

After two films of true friendship and relentless flirting, Poppy (Anna Kendrick) and Branch (Justin Timberlake) are now officially, finally, a couple (#broppy)! As they grow closer, Poppy discovers that Branch has a secret past. He was once part of her favorite boyband phenomenon, BroZone, with his four brothers: Floyd (Golden Globe nominated electropop sensation Troye Sivan), John Dory (Eric André; Sing 2), Spruce (Grammy winner Daveed Diggs; Hamilton) and Clay (Grammy winner Kid Cudi; Don’t Look Up). BroZone disbanded when Branch was still a baby, as did the family, and Branch hasn’t seen his brothers since. But when Branch’s bro Floyd is kidnapped for his musical talents by a pair of nefarious pop-star villains—Velvet (Emmy winner Amy Schumer; Trainwreck) and Veneer (Grammy winner and Tony nominee Andrew Rannells; The Book of Mormon)—Branch and Poppy embark on a harrowing and emotional journey to reunite the other brothers and rescue Floyd from a fate even worse than pop-culture obscurity.

Apart from Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick, the original cast of Trolls is set to make a comeback, including Zooey Deschanel and Christopher Mintz-Plasse as Bridget and King Gristle Jr., respectively.

Additionally, Aino Jawo, Caroline Hjelt, Anderson Paak, Ron Funches, Kunal Nayyar, and Kenan Thompson will reprise their roles from the previous two films. To add to the excitement, the upcoming movie has also roped in a star-studded lineup, featuring renowned celebrities such as Amy Schumer, Troye Sivan, Andrew Rannells, Daveed Diggs, Camila Cabello, Eric Andre, Zosia Mamet, RuPaul Charles, and Kid Cudi.

Walt Dohrn, who directed Trolls World Tour, is back to direct the upcoming movie, with Tim Heitz serving as the co-director. The film will be produced by Gina Shay, who was also the producer for the first two installments.

Trolls Band Together

Currently, no information is available about the screenplay writer(s) for Trolls Band Together, but as the release date of November 17 approaches, more details are likely to emerge.

Trolls Band Together will face tough competition during its release in November, with several big-name movies scheduled to hit theaters around the same time, including Dune: Part Two, The Marvels, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbird and Snakes, and Disney’s Wish. Although these movies cater to different audiences, there will still be fierce competition between Disney and Dreamworks during Thanksgiving weekend.

Last year, Dreamworks emerged victorious with the Christmas release of Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, while Disney’s Strange World bombed at the box office. Only time will tell how well Trolls Band Together will fare with its unique boy band twist.
