Top 5 saddest deaths in Tokyo Revengers that made everyone cry

Tokyo Revengers season 3 is currently airing the much anticipated “Tenjiku Arc,” which is full of action and introduces Izana Kurokawa, leader of the Yokohama-based gang Tenjiku.

With such brave characters and amazing twists in the plot, thanks to the time leaps, we have all grown attached to the show.

However, we had to say goodbye to some of the best characters in the show, like Draken. This one was a real tear-jerker for me.

Here’s a list of the top 5 saddest deaths in Tokyo Revengers; get a tissue, guys, as it is going to get dark if you haven’t read the manga.

5. Izana Kurokawa

Izana, the former leader of the Eighth Generation Black Dragon and the boss of Tenjiku, also had a tragic life and death.

I really pity him as he lived his whole life believing that Shinichiro was his real sibling, but the truth shattered his heart into shards of glass with which he wanted to take revenge on everyone close to Shinichiro, like how he killed his sister Emma.

Ultimately, he dies a truly tragic life, sacrificing himself to protect Kakucho, his right-hand buddy.

He was shot thrice by none other than Tetta Kisaki, who was aiming for Kachuko.

4. Draken

Ken Ryuguji, aka Draken, appears tough but very kind-hearted and always looks out for his best friend, Mikey. He had a pretty sad backstory and was pretty much an orphan.

That didn’t screw his mind as he was quite logical and responsible in Toman and a beloved character for fans. I’m in awe with his iconic jacket and dragon tattoo, it adds so much depth to his character.

Draken died protecting Takemichi from the Rokuhara Tandai gang; he was shot thrice and died from blood loss.

I’m still sore from his death as it seemed as though it was rushed, and even the funeral was covered in a single panel and paid more emphasis on the battle of the Three Deities.

3. Shinichiro Sano

Shinichiro Sano, the founder and First Generation President of Black Dragon. He was a renowned legend among the delinquents.

Other than that, he was a charismatic dude. This is something that I particularly like about Tokyo Revengers, it has such characters with emotional depth rather than hollow delinquents raging and wreaking havoc.

He was Mikey’s older brother and a heroic figure to all his younger siblings, including Mikey, Izana, and Emma.

Unfortunately, he died tragically after being hit on the head by Kazutora Hanemiya.

It was so painful to see him die as Kazutora and Baji Keisuke had broken into his shop to steal a Suzuki CB250T just for Mikey.

Baji had realized that it was Mikey’s brother, but Kazutora lashed out, and it was too late.

2. Keisuke Baji

Keisuke Baji was a founding member and the First Division Captain of the Tokyo Manji Gang and later became a member of Valhalla to figure out Kisaki’s true intentions and save Kazutora.

He was one of the bravest as he wasn’t afraid to take a bad guy’s roses in his friend’s eyes just to save them. He’s a personal favorite of mine with his luscious black hair and that trademark grin.

Kazutora stabbed him during the clash between Toman and Valhalla. Mikey had lost control over this and was almost going to end Kazutora.

That’s when Baji surprisingly stabbed himself in the gut while telling Kazutora, “I won’t die at your hands.”

He probably did so that Mikey wouldn’t finish off Kazutora, and Kazutora would not have to carry the burden on his shoulders for Baji’s death.

1. Emma Sanno

Emma was the younger half-sister of Shinichiro and Mikey and the adoptive younger sister of Izana Kurokawa. I loved the moments she shared with Draken, as it was so pure between those love birds.

Emma had the saddest and most unjust death, as she wasn’t even involved in any politics among the gangs. She was just a childish bystander.

She was killed by Kisaki, who hit her with a bat while on a bike upon Izana’s order.

However, Izana was manipulated like a mere puppet, and in his final moments, he grieved over his actions as he loved Emma dearly.

Tokyo Revengers is a manga written and illustrated by Ken Wakui. It began serialization in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine on March 1, 2017, and ended its run in November 2022. It is compiled into 31 tankobon volumes.

The story revolves around Takemichi Hanagaki, who learned that Tokyo Manji Gang had killed his only ex-girlfriend from back in middle school. After learning about the incident, Takemichi was pushed from the railway platform.

Landing on the tracks, he closed his eyes, accepting his death, but when he opened his eyes, he had time-leaped 12 years into the past.
