Get Ready for the Hottest Anime of Summer 2023 : Top 10 Must-Watch Picks

Can you feel the excitement building up as we wait for summer 2023? The anime line-up this year has been absolutely amazing so far, and I can’t wait to see what the summer season has in store for us.

The Spring 2023 season hit us with some major bangers, and now the Summer 2023 anime season is ready to take over.

Many incredible series are making a comeback this summer, like Jujutsu Kaisen and Bleach. So, I’ve listed the top 10 most anticipated anime of Summer 2023 to ensure you stay up-to-date on the hottest shows.

Get ready to mark your calendars and prepare to be wowed by these upcoming releases!

10. The Duke of Death and His Maid Season 2

The Duke of Death and His Maid is such a wild ride. It’s not common to come across a tale of a man with a lethal touch and his loyal maid who would risk everything just to stay by his side.

It’s definitely not your typical love story, but that’s what makes it so interesting. I’m all for unconventional relationships, but I have to say, I’m still trying to wrap my head around this one.

The Duke of Death and His Maid season 2 continues the story of a young duke cursed by a witch, causing death to anything he touches. He lives in an old mansion with only an elderly butler and his childhood friend, Alice, a flirtatious blonde maid.

The only downside for me was the 3D animation. I mean, it’s not terrible, but it takes away from the charm of the original art style in the manga. It’s just not as visually appealing as I was hoping for.

9. Masamune-kun’s Revenge R Season 2

Not every day do you see an anime that caters to the leg (specifically tights and pantyhose) connoisseurs. But hey, who am I to judge?

Despite the generic characters, the storyline sets Masamune-kun apart from other harem anime. The art is great, the characters are solid, and the music is on point. Plus, the concept of revenge adds an extra kick to the story.

In Masamune-kun’s Revenge R season 2, Masamune transforms into a handsome and popular student after being bullied by Adagaki Aki as a child. He transfers to Aki’s school, determined to humiliate her in revenge for her past actions.

Honestly, the first season was a total letdown. The ending was so confusing; I felt like the whole story had no point. Hopefully, the 2nd season will make up for it.

8. Rent-a-Girlfriend Season 3

First things first, if you’re not into harem anime, you might want to skip this one. But if you’re willing to give it a shot, you’ll find a group of cute and distinct girls who add flavor to the show.

The MC can be pretty pathetic and annoying, but I have to give him credit for trying to change for the better.

In the 2nd season of Rent-a-Girlfriend, Kazuya, and Chizuru will team up to make a movie and fulfill Chizuru’s grandmother’s wish for her to play the lead actress role.

The show can sometimes be cringe-worthy, but that’s part of its charm. Love it or hate it, the impact it’s had on mainstream media is undeniable.

7. Devil is a Part-Timer!! Season 2 (Sequel)

I get it if you were bummed out by the animation quality of The Devil is a Part-Timer!! Season 2 compared to the first season, but hear me out.

Despite the animation errors that could be distracting, the characters are still as lovable and entertaining as ever.

In Devil is a Part-Timer!! In season 2, the devil is thwarted by a hero just before taking over the world and ends up in Tokyo in modern times. With no real-world skills, he has to work as a burger flipper at a fast-food restaurant to survive.

Plus, we get a new addition to the cast in the form of the adorable Alas Ramus, and her antics with the Devil and the Hero had me cracking up. So, don’t give up on this show just yet. There are still plenty of laughs to be had.

6. Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead

The action in this anime is insane, and it’s not afraid to throw in some heart and substance along with all the craziness.

The setting is totally overdone, but the characters are so uniquely weird and relatable that it just works.

In Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead, Akira is a lifeless shell of a man until he witnesses his landlord eating another tenant. With the city overrun by zombies, he finally feels alive as he runs for his life.

The characters are living out their wildest dreams while the world is falling apart around them, and something about it makes them feel so human.

5. Horimiya: piece

Horimiya is one of those rare rom-coms that doesn’t try to be something it’s not. It knows its strengths, and it plays to them perfectly.

You might think it will turn into some cringe romance drama but trust me, it never does. And that’s a good thing! The manga was famous for a reason, and the anime adaptation doesn’t disappoint.

The heartwarming story of Horimiya -piece- follows two high school students, Kyouko Hori, and Izumi Miyamura. They seem like complete opposites but form an unexpected friendship outside of school.

So, if you’re looking for a simple yet entertaining rom-com that’ll make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, Horimiya is the one for you.

4 . Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2

Mushoku Tensei is not for everyone, and it doesn’t take itself too seriously. It’s not trying to make you cry or scare you with blood and gore. It’s more of a comedy adventure, and that’s what makes it unique.

Sure, it has all the isekai cliches we’re used to seeing, but it’s the OG of them all, and it’s still holding up today.

In Season 2 of Mushoku Tense, Rudeus is on a mission to find his mother, who is in the Labyrinth City of Rapan on the Begaritt Continent, after traveling to Rosenburg.

The show knows how to keep you entertained with its mix of hilarious and dark moments that will have you hooked from start to finish.

3. Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War: Part II – The Separation

Bleach was one of the OG anime from the “Big 3” back in the day. But the anime ended without adapting the final arc from the manga.

And now, after almost eight years, the manga’s final arc is finally getting an anime adaptation!

Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War Part 1 covered Wandenreich’s declaration of war against the Soul Society, which led to Ichigo’s final fight. Part 2 will be a continuation of the same story.

I’m so excited to see Bleach back in action and finally witness the story’s conclusion. If you want to see the finale alongside other fans, make sure to catch up on the previous seasons before diving in!

2. Bungo Stray Dogs Season 5

I was so excited to finally get another season of Bungou Stray Dogs, and it did not disappoint. The animation is top-notch, and the characters are as lovable as ever.

Sure, there’s some homoerotic tension between some of the hot dudes, but what I love most about this anime is how it pays homage to all these great authors and writers through its characters.

Bungou Stray Dogs Season 5 will adapt the Kamui Revelation Arc with an epic battle against Kamui and the Decay of the Angel’s plan to turn humans into vampires and rule over them.

Season 4 was the most exciting and consistent of all the seasons so far, and I am beyond thrilled to see where this story goes next!

1. Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2

If you want to get into shonen anime, look no further. Jujutsu Kaisen is the perfect place to start.

The show takes all the classic elements of the shonen genre and puts a fresh, realistic spin on them, with tons of unexpected twists and turns and some seriously well-developed characters and arcs.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s 2nd season will adapt Gojo’s Past Arc and the Shibuya Incident Arc from the manga. The former follows a mission where Gojo and Geto escort a Star Plasma Vessel to Tengen.

While the latter revolves around Geto’s plan to seal away Gojo with the help of a new cursed alliance.

Jujutsu Kaisen is hands down one of the best new-gen shounen out there, and it’s ushering in a new era of anime that I’m dying to see unfold.
