New Teaser Reveals ‘Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun’ Anime’s Return

‘Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun’ might look like a typical supernatural comedy, but it is far more than that. People fell in love with the anime in 2020 precisely due to how well the story handled all aspects of a school-themed horror.

However, the anime ended after 12 episodes with no news of a return or renewal. Fans have been waiting patiently since then, and I’m thrilled to tell you that the day is finally here.

The official website for ‘Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun’ anime started streaming a teaser that confirmed that the project is restarting soon. More information regarding whether it’s a new season or something else will be revealed soon.

The teaser has a piano version of the anime’s ending theme song, ‘Tiny Light’ by Akari Kitō, running in the background. Simultaneously, the video shows scenes from the anime with Hanako and Nene’s dialogs, indicating how the pair’s relationship changed over time.

Throughout the show, Hanako and Nene go through some unexpected and dangerous situations but always make it out in time. Most of the time, it was Nene getting into trouble and Hanako saving her, which made her trust the spirit more as the story continued.

Besides the teaser, the official website has also shared a key visual featuring Hanako holding his hand with a smile.

If the project is restarting, we are most likely getting another season. The anime ended with The Hell of Mirrors arc, and the new episodes will continue with the Summer Lights storyline.

As you guessed, this arc will have a summer festival episode, which is a crucial and sacred event in any anime or manga. However, the question remains if the festive feel and fireworks will lead to romance or trouble for Hanako and Nene.

Moreover, the mangaka Iro Aida has drawn an illustration featuring Hanako, Nene, and Kou celebrating the project’s resumption.

The anime is an excellent mix of horror and comedy, and anyone who is a fan of those genres will love it.

Now that the project is resuming, I can’t wait to see what the story has planned for us.

About Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun

Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun is a Japanese manga series by Iro Aida. It has been serialized in Square Enix’s shōnen manga magazine Monthly G Fantasy since 2014 and has been collected in twelve tankōbon volumes. The manga is licensed in North America by Yen Press.

One of the most well-known Japanese tales is that of Hanako-san: the ghost of a young girl who haunts the school’s bathrooms.

Kamome Academy has its own version of Hanako-san’s legend. Rumors are that if one successfully manages to summon Hanako-san, she will grant her summoner any wish. Lured by the gossip, many people have tried to call upon her, yet every attempt has failed.

However, when Nene Yashiro, a girl hoping for romantic fortune, dares to summon Hanako-san, she discovers that the rumored “girl” is actually a boy!
