Leaked Hercules Cameo in Thor 4: Here’s More about Hercules Actor

Just before the release of Thor: Love And Thunder, major cameos in the two after-credits scenes were leaked. One of the shocking cameos includes the MCU’s introduction of Hercules from the comics, and Brett Goldstein of Ted Lasso fame is playing the legendary champion.

In the mid-credits scene, we see a gravely injured Zeus (Russel Crowe) spouting a monologue about taking revenge on the God of Thunder. He goes on to say that he wants Hercules, who we see in a kneeling position with his face in shadow, to wreak vengeance upon those false Gods who the people look up to in the skies and not Gods like Zeus.

We then see Brett Goldstein stand and swing his tell-tale golden mace and vow to his father that he will complete his mission.

Gorr the God Butcher

After Thor (Chris Hemsworth) battles Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale) in the fourth film, this post-credits scene sets up a possible scenario for a probable fifth installment where he would face his comic foe-turned-friend Hercules.

Thor: Love And Thunder has already taken heavy inspiration from the comics with the introduction of Gorr, Zeus, and Jane’s Mighty Thor. Though we don’t know anything of Hercules’ future in the MCU, we can speculate a comic-accurate costume for Brett Goldstein’s Hercules.

In the comics by legendary creators Stan Lee, Charles Nicholson, and Jack Kirby, Hercules made his first appearance in the 1945 comic Young Allies #16, followed by his introduction in the 1965 comic Journey Into Mystery Annual #1.

According to the comics, Hercules was the spawn of Zeus, the Greek god of lightning and king of Mount Olympus, and a human woman named Alcmena. Zeus had disguised himself as Alcmena’s husband and had an affair with her behind her husband’s back, and once Hera knew, her wrath fell onto Hercules.

Due to his father’s godly nature, Hercules unknowingly grew with the strength of gods, which became apparent when Hercules easily defeated the two-headed serpents Hera had sent to finish Zeus’ illegitimate child. That was the beginning of the adventures of Zeus’ son, Hercules.

Hercules went on to complete the Twelve Labors and earned Zeus’ favor, who granted him immortality and brought him under his wing. In the comics, under the command of his father Zeus, Hercules maintained a rivalry with Thor, which later turned into a surprising friendship.

Before starring in the MCU film, British actor Brett Goldstein added much to his repertoire to earn his casting as Hercules. The actor and writer is best known for writing and starring in the Apple TV+ comedy-drama Ted Lasso, even scoring a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his role.

Hercules’ entry into the MCU spells for a new rival or partner for Thor, but details of his relationship with the God of Thunder and other heroes will be explored in the later MCU projects. Fans are expecting to see more of Goldstein’s personification of the Olympian soon.
