Guideau and Helga run to their safety in episode 7 of ‘The Witch and the Beast,’ titled “The Witch and the Demon Sword: Act II.” With Cugat on Helga’s tail, Guideau and Helga have to fight their hardest to survive. Ashagan isn’t making anything easy, either.
Guideau is taking the mission seriously, but it is not bearing any fruit as she just gets caught in the crossfire. However, since Helga is not the perpetrator, someone has orchestrated the incident for personal gain.

2. Episode 8 Speculation
The Executioner is either trying to control Helga or kill her. However, Guideau has never gone back on her words, so she will return to save Helga. The question is whether she will make it back on time.
Ashaf had good hindsight and made Guideau save her ace, the kiss. We might see her use it to save Helga and defeat the Executioner.
Lowell shot Ashaf, and he looked like he died. However, he is a mage, and it seems unlikely that bullets would take him out. Cugat, on the other hand, is weak to fire, and Lowell knew that.
Lowell attacked him with full force, and he is now on the verge of death. Whether Cugat survives or not is another question that will be answered.
3. Recap of episode 7
Ashaf warned Guideau about the overwhelmingly strong “Man of Ice,” Matt Cugat. Guideau plans to go for the kiss, but Ashaf stops her, as she might need her strength for later. Guideau tells Helga to run while she keeps Cugat busy, but Cugat is overwhelmingly strong.
Cugat has a pact that makes him the ice elemental mage, making him on par with witches. Helga drops Ashagan, and Cugat takes the demon sword. Helga demands it back, but he refuses to hand it over to a ‘murderer’.
Guideau attacks again, and Helga asks her to get the demon sword back. Guideau takes Ashagan away and makes Helga follow her if she wants it back. Cugat almost freezes the entire city, but Guideau and Helga manage to escape.
However, Cugat defeats both Helga and Guideau, taking hold of Ashagan. He seals both of them away in armor but is interrupted by Ashaf. Cugat asks the Corps to take away Helga and Guideau while Ashaf plans to talk things out with him.
As Ashaf explains how fishy the whole mission is, and how someone is framing Helga, the Corps start fighting over the demon sword. The man with the Holy Church is actually one of the members of Executioners, the witch hunters.
Ashaf explains his theory, and Cugat tests it, realizing he is right. However, Cugat gets attacked by Lowell, his subordinate, who is actually with the Executioners. Meanwhile, Helga has given up all hope of surviving, but Guideau struggles.
Helga reveals herself to protect Guideau, and Ashagan immediately calls out to her. He tries to convince Helga to draw him, but Helga refuses. If Helga dies, no one will be able to draw Ashagan and use it, but she has a promise to keep.
Guideau breaks out of the armor and frees both Helga and Ashagan. However, the Executioner gets a hold of Helga, who immediately throws Guideau out. Helga asks Guideau to keep the sword safe and then rescue her.
However, the Executioner wipes all the hope from Helga’s eyes, saying there is no saving her.

The Witch and the Beast (Majo to Yajū) is a dark fantasy manga series by Kousuke Satake. It started serialization in Young Magazine in November 2016, moved to Monthly Young Magazine in May 2021, and also has an anime adaptation under production.
It follows a beast-like girl Guideau and a mysterious man with a coffin, Asaph, on their way to hunt down a witch who is hailed as a hero.
