How to Pee Without Missing the Action: A Guide to Watching Indiana Jones 5

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is the fifth and final installment in the iconic adventure franchise starring Harrison Ford as the whip-cracking archaeologist.

The film, directed by James Mangold, follows Indy as he races against time to stop a former Nazi from using an ancient artifact to time travel and alter history. The film is packed with action, humor, and nostalgia, but it also has a runtime of 2 hours and 22 minutes, which might make some viewers wonder when to take a bathroom break.

Fortunately, we have compiled a list of the best moments to sneak out of the theater without missing anything crucial.

Of course, if you want to enjoy the film in its entirety, we recommend that you stay in your seat and hold it in. However, if you really need to go, here are some suggestions:

After the opening flashback sequence set in 1944, the film jumps to 1969, where Indy is retiring from his university job and feeling out of place in the hippie era.

This is an excellent time to take a break, as nothing much happens until he meets his goddaughter Helena (Phoebe Waller-Bridge), who brings him into his final adventure.

Around 1 Hour in

Indy and Helena travel to Morocco to find the other half of the Antikythera, also known as the Dial of Destiny, a device created by Archimedes to measure astronomical events. They encounter Renaldo (Antonio Banderas), an old friend of Indy’s, who helps them out.

This is another good time to take a break, as the action slows down a bit, and there are some scenes of exposition and banter.

Around 1 Hour and 40 Minutes in

Indy and Helena are captured by Dr. Voller (Mads Mikkelsen), the Nazi scientist who works for NASA and wants to use the Dial to go back in time and kill Hitler4. He takes them to an airbase where he plans to activate the Dial on a plane.

This is a risky time to take a break, as things start to get tense and exciting, but if you really need to go, this is your last chance before the climax.

Around 2 Hours and 10 Minutes in

The plane with Voller and Indy on board goes through the portal created by the Dial and ends up in ancient Sicily during the siege of Syracuse in 212 BC4. There they meet Archimedes (Toby Jones), who reveals that he built the Dial specifically to bring help from the future.

This is a bad time to take a break, as this is when the film gets really wild and unpredictable. You don’t want to miss the final showdown between Indy and Voller or the emotional farewell between Indy and Helena.

So, there you have it: some possible bathroom breaks for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.

Of course, these are just suggestions based on our opinions and preferences. You might find other moments more suitable for your needs. But whatever you do, don’t forget to wash your hands and enjoy the movie!
