The LAPD has lived up to its expectations yet again as we head into a month-long hiatus.
In this week’s episode, Nolan and Juarez find a random man carrying a coffin. On inspecting it, they find his brother, who is very much alive!
A dead man gets shot by a woman multiple times, and the LAPD has to find out how he died in the first place. After such a brilliantly crafted episode, you expect to see the next one as soon as possible, right?
Alas, we have some bad news for you.
1. Season 5, Episode 8 Speculation
After an excellent episode this week, do you want to watch the next one as soon as possible? Unfortunately, you can’t.
The Rookie has given us a great run of stories in its new season. But it has taken a break, and the next episode won’t premiere next week.
This may be due to several specials that will release this month, including the American Music Awards. So, don’t expect the next episode before the start of December (sigh!).
As for speculation, not much has been leaked about the next episode. But we do have a promo to work with! Watch the promo of season 5, episode 8 here:
That was a lot of information to process in 30 seconds!
The trailer shows a civilian woman driving a car with something resembling a dog collar around her neck. Nolan goes near the car and orders the woman to stop it. The woman looks terribly scared and says, “He said to drive, or he’ll kill me.”
In the next scene, Sergeant Grey orders the officers not to let her stop the car. If the vehicle stops, the bomb will detonate. A classic car chase situation, isn’t it? Only this time, they don’t want the car to stop!
Just when I am trying to digest the first bomb threat, the trailer shows a second explosive somewhere. The city has been infested with bombs; it seems. Will the LAPD be able to live up to the challenge?
Several questions come to mind from the trailer. I am curious about the identity of the lady. Does the lady have any connection to the LAPD, or was she just a random civilian? Who is behind all this? Is there a terrorist group that is operating these bomb blasts? Or a past convict who’s hell-bent on taking revenge from the LAPD?
In the end, we see Nolan trying to diffuse a bomb, but it gets detonated.
The promo makes you feel like watching the episode right now. Mid-season hiatuses are the worst (argh!).

Chapter 8 of the The Rookie Season 5 series has been released on Sunday, Dec 04, 2022 at 7:00 pm PDT. The chapter title has not been leaked yet.

5. Season 5, Episode 7 Recap
For those who went to solve crimes in your city and missed the last episode, here is a quick refresher:
In episode 7, Nolan and Juarez find a man carrying a coffin where his dead brother is apparently resting. On opening it, they find that the guy inside is alive!
Bradford and Thomson get called to resolve a household issue. A mother says that her son doesn’t listen to her because she gets aggressive and slams doors at him.
A lady appears in front of Nolan and Juarez and shoots a man several times in his car. They discover that the man has been dead for a long time. It turns out to be Dr. Mitchelson.
Nolan convinces the woman that she won’t be imprisoned if she hasn’t committed the murder. The woman confesses that she shot a dead man because the doctor kept increasing her father’s opioids despite her warnings. But then, who killed him in the first place?
Juarez informs Nolan that Dr. Mitchelson has had many complaints about overprescribing painkillers.
They finally discover that it was Mrs. Mitchelson all along. They arrest her, and she confesses.
6. About The Rookie
The Rookie is a 2018 American crime police drama starring Nathan Fillion in the lead, created by Alexi Hawley for ABC. The main cast also includes Alyssa Diaz, Richard T. Jones, Mercedes Mason, Mekia Cox, Shawn Ashmore and others.
The show revolves around a small-town guy called John Nolan who pursues his dream of being an LAPD officer in his 40s. He becomes the oldest officer in the police department and also the butt of all jokes, sarcasm and skepticism. Nolan uses his experience and knowledge to show others what he’s capable of.
Based on the real life of LAPD officer William Norcross, the show has received goo reception.
Season 4 of The Rookie is currently ongoing on ABC.
