The Rings of Power Episode 8: Release Date, Recap, and Speculation

Episode 7 is packed with death and destruction, endings and rebirths, rising enemies and impending doom all packed in one hour. The episode saw the transformation of the Southlands into Mordor, witnessed the removal of Prince Durin as the heir to Khazad-dûm, and teased the existence of a Balrog under Moira.

With the finale next week, what fate awaits Elrond and the other elves as the tree of life is drained? Will Halbrand survive his wounds? What role will The Stranger play in the upcoming finale?

1. Episode 8 Synopsis/Speculation

“The Eye” definitely brought much to the eyes of fans, and Episode 8 will make sure these curiosities are either satiated or carried forward to Season 2.

The upcoming episode will finally reveal the purpose of the white-cloaked trio who have followed The Stranger since he crashed. The true identity of the Stranger is yet to be revealed, and the next episode may very well deal with it.

The upcoming episode will bring more clarity to the fate of the elves and their tree of life. Mithril is proven to be the key to curing the tree, but will Prince Durin and Disa disobey current Dwarf King’s command?

Celebrimbor’s fate as the forger of the rings of power has not been explored, and we hope the finale will at least set the base for that storyline.

Will the trio of the magic wielders use Nori to bring The Stranger out of hiding? Will Elrond be able to change the fate of the Elves? What fate awaits Galadriel and Halbrand? Episode 8 will hopefully answer all of these questions and more.

Galadriel

Galadriel wakes from her haze and protects Theo, while Isildur and Ontamo are lost to the fire that consumes all of the Southlands. The Harfoots arrive at the Grove only to find that Mount Doom’s fiery rocks have destroyed most of it. Elrond and Durin seek King Durin’s approval to forge the mithril to save the Golden Tree.

Durin and Elrond go against the King’s wishes and mine for Mithril. Durin III catches them, throws Elron out, disinherits Prince Durin as Khazad-dûm’s heir, and seals the tunnels. The same tunnels where unbeknownst to them resides a Balrog.

The Stranger tries to heal the Grove, but his magic indirectly hurts Nori and Dilly. He takes leave of the Harfoots, but danger follows him in the form of the white-cloaked women, and the trio destroys the Harfoots’ carts. Nori leads Sadoc, Marigold, and Poppy to warn and save The Stranger.

Galadriel and Halbrand ride to the nearest Elven stronghold to cure his wound while the Southlands refugees move to a Numenorean city. Queen Regent Miriel, blinded by the fires of Mordor, vows to wage the war upon Adar with tenfold intensity after they recover.
