The Promised Neverland Live-Action Movie Confirms Winter 2020 Release Date

The Promised Neverland debuted as an anime in January this year and its popularity exploded pretty quickly. The series performed so well that a second season and a live-action film have been announced too.

Comic Natalie recently posted confirmation of the release date for the live-action adaptation of the series to be 18th December 2020.

Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump hosted the annual Jump Festa over the weekend and this lead to a slew of announcements and new content for Shonen Jump readers. The creators behind The Promised Neverland took this opportunity to announce the release date for the upcoming live-action adaptation of the series: 18th December 2020.

The film will be directed by Yuichiro Hirakawa with Noriko Gotou as the scriptwriter. The cast for the lead roles has also been announced:

  • Minami Hanabe as Emma
  • Kairi Jo as Ray
  • Rihiko Itagaki as Norman

The story covered by the film has not yet been released, however, there is a lot of good material in the series to pick from. There is also the possibility that the movie will show an original view of the story line. Regardless of what story it covers, fans are hoping that the live-action adaptation is not a let down unlike so many other failed live-action movies.

Created by Kaiu Shirai, this series debuted in a Weekly Shonen Jump manga in 2016. Licensed by VIZ Media for an English Language release, this series has gained immense popularity, selling 4.2 million copies in a very short period. The story revolves around the horrific truths of an orphanage discovered by 3 bright kids: Emma, Norman and Ray.
